If you only ever buy one David Bowie album, make it this one, you can't do any better.
It's the second in a series of sets that Bowie recorded with support from Brian Eno following the groundbreaking Low and it finds him continuing his experiments with sound and the new European music.
The title track is the best thing here and probably also the best thing Bowie has ever done - it's a breathtaking achievement and was a massive worldwide hit, as was the album. In addition to the commercial success achieved, Heroes also got universal critical acclaim. Coupled to this, Bowie was one of the few members of rock's establishment who was not universally condemned by the new wave when it burst onto the scene in 76-77 and that's due in no small part to Bowie's embracing and driving of change - quite simply he is a revolutionary and you have him here at the peak of his form - ENJOY
