Advantages: funny and enjoyable film Disadvantages: none
I remember reading the book of 'Bridget Jones's Diary many years ago, but not enjoying it enough to want to go and see the film when it came out in 2001 - which is why the first time I watched the DVD was last night. To my pleasant surprise, it was a very enjoyable and funny film.
The film follows the year in the life of Bridget Jones (Renee Zellweger), a thirty something spinster whose prospects of finding a man in her life appear quite slight! The film starts at a New Year's Day party which her parents take her to, where they are determined to match her up with the hosts' son, Mark Darcy (Colin Firth). Unfortunately, it is not love at first sight especially as he is wearing a hand knitted jumper with Rudolph on it, and she is wearing an outfit which is more suited to her mother!
Back at work, Bridget has a crush on her boss ...
Advantages: It had it's slightly funny moments. Disadvantages: Bad acting, slow, not enough zombies.
George A. Romero is the creator of Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead two of the greatest zombie films of all time. Diary of the Dead is his fifth installment in the 'Dead' series and some 40 years on from that first great movie I think it is about time Romero packed it in.
Diary of the Dead starts off reasonably enough. A news team are covering a brutal murder in some American city. The bodies are being wheeled into the ambulance when suddenly they start to move. Rejoice, rejoice they're not dead, you'd think. But they are. They start to bite the ambulance crew and walk slowly around towards the news team and police. Well the American police aren't going to take any of this crap, after quickly referring to standard police protocol they find out that when people who shouldn't be dead turn out not to be dead ...
Advantages: beautiful descriptions, kat was a lively character I enjoyed reading about Disadvantages: overall it was dull, dull dull!
