Poptastic

Advantages: Ah the memories - highly entertaining
Disadvantages: none

Way back in the 70's pop music wasn't just about boy bands , there was lots of bands producing entertaining music, regardless of whether they were pretty faces. From my memories of that period one of the best was Showaddywaddy - this may produce a snort of derision but if you were around then I guarantee that if you put this cd on you won't be able to stop yourself smiling and singing along, especially to the bass parts, altogether "C'mon little darling take my hand" Showaddywaddy dressed as teddy boys and had been around since the early 70's with their first, self penned hits coming during Glam "Hey Rock'n'Roll" and "Rock'n'Roll lady". However in 76 they started a string of cover versions of old rock'n'roll songs which turned them into a top 10 act. Review of Very Best Of Showaddywaddy, The - Showaddywaddy

The King of Rock 'N Roll?

Advantages: Great head banging action to be had!
Disadvantages: Some tracks a bit repetitive

and egotistical lyrics make this song memorable and endurable, with some interesting sound effects added in for good measure. 'Roller' is another hard hitting track boasting a very active drum beat, provided by HIM's lead singer, Ville Valo. Straight forward and to the point. A perfect second track. 'Dope Danny' takes the listener on a journey from the life of a drug addict (hence the title). A little distorted for a creepy effect, this one won't win any awards for lyrics but is damn sure entertaining! Next is 'Never Been In Love (till the day I die)'. Not much to the words here but boasts a very good, hard rock feel here; great for head banging! Perhaps a little too similar to 'The King of Rock 'N Roll'. 'Eldorado Baby' is a hypnotic, blues type track with haunting yet honest vocals. One of my favourites from here. 'Lonely Road ...
