3'sLate Junctionprogramme. Pianist David Rees-Williams, formerly based in London but now settled in Canterbury, has made a CD which brings the Bill-Evans-type jazz trio approach to a bunch of "popular" classics, from Purcell and Bach to Grieg and Debussy. No-one (not even the liner note writer) is claiming this to be anything new--after all, Jacques Loussier was doing something very similar 40 years ago withPlay Bach--but Rees-Williams and his cohorts make a decent stab at it, respecting the essential character of each piece of music and ensuring they stay well within the bounds of what is generally accepted to be good taste. In this they are to be differentiated from the likes of the Vienna Art Orchestra and Uri Caine, who are more radical in their reinterpretations of the classics. David Rees-Williams is more likely to be associated with the George Winstons of this world. If that is a place you like to be, this collection will appeal strongly. --Keith Shadwick

Advantages: Great for pre-school children for learning colours. Disadvantages: Too short.
Apologies to readers as ciao have mixed up the front cover and the title. This review is about the title 'Elmer's colours', not the photo shown...............gremlins!!
Anyway to make ammends for their error I will add a photo of the front cover of the book so you know what you are looking for if you want to buy one after reading this.
Who is Elmer? ~
Elmer is the creation of David McKee. I'm never sure of the sex of Elmer, the name to me suggests a girl but I would appreciate it if someone could verify this. Anyway I will for the purpose of this review use 'she'.
Elmer is an elephant, but no ordinary elephant...............she's not grey like the others but is a brightly coloured patchwork elephant who instantly appeals to young children who generally love vibrant colours.
Elmer was first introduced in 1989 with the book ...
Advantages: Good chase scenes Disadvantages: Lackluster ending
The Hidden is a rather obscure 1980's sci-fi/action film, starring Michael Nouri and Kyle MacLachlan, of "Twin Peaks" and "Showgirls" fame. Here he plays Lloyd Gallagher, an FBI agent who arrives in the city and is immediately paired up with Tom Beck (Michael Nouri) to tackle a bizarre event that seems to be happening. Normal, everyday people who no connection have all seemingly turned into psychopathic monsters, killing anyone who gets in their way.
It turns out they do have a connection, in that they all become inhabited by an alien with a penchant for violence and Ferraris. Will Beck and Gallagher be able to stop the alien before yet more lives are lost?
I bought this because of a recommendation on a forum I visit. I don't think I'd heard of it before, but I'm willing to give anything a try. After watching "The Hidden", I ...

Advantages: Current American Idol winner, a musician Disadvantages: None
This...... is the current American Idol Winner.
David Cook is the American Idol that nearly never was. He actually was not initially going to try out for the television talent show, he was at the auditions to support his brother but, after some pushing from his brother, decided to audition too. A good decision, because he became the winner of the seventh season of American Idol in 2008.
David Cook is classified as a Rock, singer-songwriter. His sound is definitely very rocky, but in my opinion quite soft rock. He has a very deep, raspy voice that lends itself very well to this type of music. What I really like about him is that he can actually play an instrument, unlike a lot of the new pop stars out there today who are just manufactured. He plays the guitar and actually used it quite a lot when he was performing on Idol. If you look ...
