Advantages: very good tunes, melodies, lyrics. Disadvantages: ???
Hi, I'm here to try to make you listen to NadaSurf
:)
As the other person who wrote about this band told almost everything about their biography, I won't bother coming back on that. You can also go and check their website:
www.nadasurf.com
So I'll just tell you my opinion about this band...
*THE BAND:
American trio: guitar, bass, drums; short, straight, efficient. All 3 musicians are very good, and as in most trios, the drums and bass are more present (not always following the guitar line). These guys are very friendly, and they also speak French perfectly (you probably don't care, but I'm French, so...).
*THE SONGS
The songs are really well built (musically), and the melodies are great. The lyrics are really good, and talk about a lot of different subjects which I won'e enumerate now.
The overall result is a melodic ...

Advantages: Typical Nada Surf with Some Classics which will have you singing along for days Disadvantages: Not as heavy as the First 2 Albums, Quite slow
, definatly worth a listen as it is such a nice song, the build up towards the end finishing the song on a high and what a high it is.
Blankest Year: Has a bit of swearing in, but is an upbeat catchy tune, which makes you bob your head all the way through, its nice to hear an upbeat song from nadasurf who have become rather solemn in there old age.
Conclusion:
Another great album from NadaSurf but not a fire lighter, it carries alot of attributes from Let Go, and even takes some sounds from High/Low which is nice to hear some of the oldy sounds back. Definatly worth buying especially if your a NadaSurf fan, if your thinking about getting into them however, go for the Proximity Effects as the album is easier to get into than some of there other stuff. ...
Advantages: They are easy to listen to, easy to sing along to and great to watch live Disadvantages: They won't suit everyone's taste, but they're worth a go
This is my first Music op and I?ve been putting off writing this due to the incredible level of detail everyone manages to go into. I am not a technically musical person so forgive my descriptions!
I?m going to tell you about NadaSurf, they are my all time favourite band on many different levels. It?s not just their music but the experience of going to one of their gigs and the easy going attitudes they have with their fans. They always stay back in the bar after the gig to meet their fans and sign autographs, and even gave this lucky fan a free signed T-shirt (thanks Ira).
My friend Tel used to be part of an Internet magazine called Caught! and was asked to go and interview the band and review their show, way back in October 1996. He?d been sent a copy of their single ?Popular? and their first album ?High/Low?, after listening ...

Nada Surf: Matthew Caws (vocals, guitar); Daniel Lorca (vocals, bass); Catherine Talese (spoken vocals); Ira Elliot (drums). Additional personnel: Catharine Talese (spoken vocals). Recorded at Electric Lady, New York, New York on December 1-20, 1995. Replete with angular chord progressions, feedback galore and ironic lyrics about the least appealing aspects of adolescence (high school, unrequited crushes), HIGH/LOW could be a lesson in the fundamentals of indie rock's nerd mentality. But Nada Surf make their songs memorable by adding an arena-rock lacquer to these dark "losercore" songs. On the anthemic "Popular," the band glorifies teenage disappointment by framing it in the punch of a power chord, making it massive and universal--worthy of a stadium sing-a-long. Part of Nada Surf's indelibility lies in the top-notch production by Ric Ocasek (of the Cars; he's also responsible for producing Weezer). Ocasek has the gift of recording with crystalline definition while avoiding a cold and overproduced sound. HIGH/LOW proves that Nada Surf can carry crunch and clarity like true alternative superstars, without forgetting their dorky and unglamorous past.
Album Reviews
Option (7-8/96, p.121) - "...you know, a good crunchy riff can still be a thing of compelling power, and a really smart smart-aleck is a pretty rare find. So the fact that Nada Surf consistently offers up the crunch and the smarts makes them a standout..."
