...cant tempt you as I guide you through the play list on this remarkable album, but first of all let me set the scene by introducing you to the girls.
The Dixie Chicks are three girls from Texas, namely Natalie Maines, vocals and guitar. Sisters Emily Robison, Dobro and banjo and Martie Maguire fiddle and mandolin.
1 Long Time Gone.
***************
Perhaps this track is more of traditional country than any of the other vocals. Featuring an up tempo accompaniment from Emily on banjo it tells the tale of young farmer who leaves his parents farm to escape marriage and tedium.
2 Landslide.

This is one of the tracks that I downloaded from Kazza, it is a cover of a song written and recorded by my favourite singer, the beautiful Stevie Nicks from Fleetwood Mac. The Dixie’s make this one their own, it is one of the best cover...

...away feeling that these songs written by Justin Currie and Iain Harvie are based on real experience, real feelings, real pain. Not written by someone else for people to get rich like so many bands today. Not written full of cliches or seemingly just because it rhymes quite well. But written because it means something. To Justin Currie, to Iain Harvie, to the rest of the band and this ultimately comes through and makes it mean something to the listener.
From the very first day i heard my first Del Amitri song i have been hooked.
If like me you want to hear beautiful, inspiring lyrics written by the person actually singing them, instruments expertly played, stunningly beautiful melodies and an incredible, soulful, moving voice from the lovely Justin Currie, well then you should give Del Amitri a try.
I cannot recommend them highly enough!!...

Into this arena stepped the Dixie Chicks, with a slightly more country sound that Faith Hill, but with a pop edge that would hopefully make them more acceptable.
Maybe they caught me at a weak moment. Maybe it was the album cover with three attractive blondes on the cover, the Dixie Chicks themselves, that reeled me in. Maybe I was still slightly stunned at discovering I actually quite liked their Grammy Award winning single "There...
