This CD is the newest and longest CD released by the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, and personnally, in my opinion this CD is the best of the lot. The song Amazing Grace, played by the band on this disc, was a No. 1 hit for five weeks in the UK and Australia, quite a few years ago, but this shows the quality of the playing/arranging done of the music played by the band and recorded on CD.
This CD has lots of great music by the pipe band of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, accompanied by the military bands - which makes it even better. I really enjoyed this CD and found myself humming along to almost every song as they were playing. There are many well known songs on this CD, the good old traditional ones, such as Scotland the Brave and Amazing Grace, as well as more popular newer ones like the love theme from Titanic and the theme from Soldier Soldier, as well as many great songs that are less well known but are equally as good. There are 21 songs making the CD last a good bit more than an hour but this isnt really reflected in the price - the price of the CD is the same as, if not less than, many CDs like it about £12.99 although it did change between that and £15.99 in the website that I bought it from (101cd.com) so it depends really where and when you buy it.
Tracks on this CD include: Highland Cathedral (This is a stunning version of this extremely popular Scottish tune - its one of the best I have heard and I really enjoy listening to it) Main theme from The Last of the Mohicans 2/4/ Marches Amazing Grace The Rebel Piper (one of my favourites) Steam Train to Mallaig My Heart Will Go On - Titanic Love Theme Strathspeys and Reels Castle Walls Waltz Set (not one of the best tracks on the CD) 4/4 Marches (also not one of the best) Erin's Green Shore Will you go lassie go (another very good song) Medley Ceilidh Set (another of my favourites - accompanied by Ceilidh band) Absent Without Leave Hornpipes (a pretty good track - slightly different from the others but equally as good) Braveheart Trilogy Jig Set (these jigs are great - nice, fast tunes) Scotland the Brave/Heilan' Laddie (good enough tunes but not a very good recording of them) Amazing Grace the Fling (personally I think this is a bit of a let down - the last track should be better - the accompaniment seems to be too repetitive and there are too many 'verses' with this repetitive accompaniment which really annoyed me)
