Highlights From Slumdog Millionaire - Various Artists

Advantages: Instruments used beautifully, Nice lyrics (when translated)
Disadvantages: Can be a bit noisy in some tracks.

...I've now seen Slumdog Millionaire twice, and both times I enjoyed seeing it. I think the soundtrack really makes the film. It sent shivers down my spine while I watched it, and as a lover of music, it must have been good to do that to me. "O Saya" , the first track, is a blend of great bass, lyrics, and vocals. It really does have the feel of typical bollywood music, but with a twist (that is M.I.A.) which really does make it outstanding (and this can be said for the entire album). I don't think this track is the best on the album as it can give you a headache if you listen to it too much as it has alot of percussion. "Riots" did not really stand out for me, as it is one of the backing tracks and not an actual song you can listen to all the time. Advantages: Thought-provoking, shocking at times... thoroughly entertaining.
Disadvantages: Doesn't make India look good... the people are depicted rather harshly.

As the night wears on, Jamal is mistreated and intimidated by the police who are convinced that he has been cheating? how else could an illiterate ?slumdog? know the answers to the show?s questions? When the police inspector takes over the interrogation and demands that Jamal explain how he could possibly know the answers to the questions, Jamal, who is an honest young man, tells the inspector about his life in the slums? and how the answers to each of the questions were actually important life-changing chapters in his life. ?Slumdog Millionaire? is one of the most poignant movies I have seen this year. Advantages: An ok film, but did NOT live up to the hype!
Disadvantages: What an anti climax!!!!

...honest I found the storyline dry and boring. I thought it was going to be much more spectacular than it was, but all I found was it was a bit stupid, and put me off ever going to India. The only bit of the film I enjoyed was the ending. I found a few annoyances were 1) why would you have a show like Who wants to be a Millionaire if you were going to arrest anyone who got to the final stage on suspicion of cheating. AND why did the young kids in the past sequences, all of a sudden despite been veryyyyy poor before then, and never ever speaking english before, ALL of a sudden start talkign english even though before they were speaking in full Indian, a website claims they would have "learned from tourists", but they start speaking in full English, with no problems straight away, and then always spoke in English when together and not only...
