...channels and maybe it does get the odd bit of 'extra' airtime. (E.g. "Close To Me" being on a BBC Three programme...it's name escapes me, but it may have been the 'Smoking Room'? Answers on a postcard...) Their 'greatest hits' album, released in 2001 through Fiction Records and only done so on the basis that Smith could choose the tracks himself is 19 tracks that show a chronological tale of the band and their music through the years. (Although two of the tracks are brand new!) Opening track "Boys Don't Cry" was released in June 1979, eight years before I was born. Yet with it's instantly recognisable guitar riff it's something that the countless bands since then that have idolised and 'taken influence' from the Cure could take the rest of time to improve on. ...with the stunning elegance and the beauty of lyric phrasing of Lena Horne, and she is Whitney Houston." Spoken in 1985, he was definitely true! Generally I tend to think that greatest hits albums are a waste of money because if you have all the artists other CD's you probably have most of the tracks anyway but this album is well worth it. It's the one place where you can get all her old classics, as well as new songs and some funky duets. The album comes as a double CD but if you get the DVD version you also get music videos of past hits, live performances and interviews. The music videos are great as you really see her in action. The CD was released in 2000. Like I said it's a double CD and each CD has a really cool title. Disc 1 is called Cool Down and features her more chilled, love songs even though she still belts out some cracking vocals... Read review

...Some of you may know Gipsy King for the spanish version of ?Hotel California?. However, they are largely well known for many of the songs that feature on their greatest hits. Gipsy King like Bob Marley, in my opinion, are in a league of their own and once people hear their song Bombeleo , they will realise that they have heard it before. Although I only speak a few words of spanish, I don?t beleive it is needed to appreciate the guitar mastery and the warm, acoustic tones and variety this album offers. I remember initially listening to Gipsy King in the 90?s when I worked at a restaurant that provided food and music from around the world. I now have the CD and it often keeps me company on long journeys and the drive to work. The group has a great voice and the music often whisks me often to a a warm, meditarranean climate. I...
