Hit Single Collectables - Johnny Tillotson

Advantages: Elvis singing great songs at his peak, backed by sympathetic musicians.
Disadvantages: That the album contains barely half of the many songs recorded at these historic sessions.

...The Strong Survive' and 'Power Of My Love' display a new, funkier Elvis, thanks to the superb production of Chips Moman, who had previously worked with such luminaries as Aretha Franklin, and The Box-Tops, whose interpretation of Hank Snow's 'I'm Movin'On' is closely matched by Elvis's on this album. Presley even turns the rather twee 'Gentle On My Mind' (best-known via a Dean Martin hit version) into something special. In fact, there's not a duff song on here, from Johnny Tillotson's 'It Keeps Right On A-Hurtin', to Burt Bacharach's 'Any Day Now'. Advantages: Very reasonable, feel good factor
Disadvantages: Not the most well know Rock love songs of the era

...The album of golden oldies! This album has a real feel good factor about it - whether you are my grandmothers age or mine. I bought this album as it was being sold very reasonably and thought why not, but I am really glad I did. Whether you are having a romantic night in or doing the washing up on a Sunday it is a good addition to your record collection - but put it on and sing to your hearts content. Disadvantages: Not a chance of getting this on your CD shelf, it is a tall book too!
