Advantages: Some no. 1 Hits Disadvantages: You have to be a fan to appreciate
...I found this one on the shelf at Woolworths along with all the other stuff that goes for £5 when shops decide to have a clearance.
I actually bought it out of interest to hear what was so bad on it that it was only worth £5 pound. Fortunately I was pleasantly suprised.
Gold has a good collection of hits from his shows. The best ones were
"Memory" from Cats and "Another Suitcase Another Hall" from Evita and Don't Cry for me Argentina.
But there is a good sprinkling of other musicals including The Phantom of the Opera , Superstar, Whistle Down the Wind.
All together there are a good twenty songs in the collection and pleanty of variety. The Cover title is Andrew Lloyd Webber Gold The definitive Hits Collection.

Advantages: The original alternative gothic band Disadvantages: There are a couple of tracks here that could have been left out.
...Deathly, frightening and fascinatingly gloomy, The Sisters Of Mercy are not a gathering of religiously evil bible bashing nuns, but a wonderfully gothic band whose humble beginings are not unlike those of the smart suited, well organised Beatles.
The fact that two ordinary musicians with even more ordinary names, Gary Marx and Andrew Eldritch got together somewhere in very more ordinary Leeds sometime in 1980 would not leave us in any surprise. But if it was to be mentioned that they scraped together what money they had for one instrument, a guitar and somehow manage to devise an independant record label then perhaps we would be more inclinde to sit up alittle and listen more intently.

Perhaps because of the notoriety which the affair generated, perhaps because of the persistence of this one tune, DECCA records reissued "The Rolling Stones Songbook" in CD format in 2004. It should come as no surprise why I bought this album. I already owned The Verve CD and I was intensely curious to hear the original and to see what all the fuss was about. This is your opportunity to 'sample' it too.
