Advantages: DMX - fine performance, excellent soundtrack, nicely choreographed fight scenes
Disadvantages: Horrific plot, horrific script, Seagal not improved his acting skills with age.

EXIT WOUNDS IS NO CITIZEN KANE

Advantages: There will be no pop quiz about this movie. High IQ not required.
Disadvantages: It's a dumb action film with Seagal.

Is there anyone reading this who thinks Steven Seagal is a great actor or that he will make a film that isn't at its very best derivative junk? If you're interested in Exit Wounds at all, it's because it's an action movie and has a somewhat interesting cast. You're expectations for it are probably pretty low but your curious if Seagal is still a reasonably entertaining bad-ass and if DMX can act. The answer to both questions is a qualified yes. Exit Wounds is low-brow entertainment. It's not a film you study or savor for its intricacies or sub-texts. You watch a film like this very much like you watch your average television program. Walking Wounded

Advantages: Some good action
Disadvantages: lame plot, seen it all before

There were quite a few eyebrows raised last year when Exit Wounds went straight to the top of the US box office with a $19 million take, the reason for this was the fact that any film starring Steven Seagal in last few years hasn't had the fortune to even make it to a cinema screen. Why this film was the exception is anyone's guess as there's nothing that makes it stand out from the pack in any way. Seagal plays Orin Boyd, a chicago cop who doesn't do things by the book but get's results. His latest exploit results in the safety of a US senator but a lot of bloodshed and carnage as a result. This leads to Boyd's expulsion to one of the worse precincts in the city, it's here that he upsets the applecart and cpmes across widespread corruption in the force.
