Advantages: Many Cameo's, Britishness. Disadvantages: Always waiting for the real action to start.
let the film down, but the lack of a decent script, directing and editing did.
--- CONCLUSION ---
At best Churchill: The HollywoodYears is a 2nd rate BBC or ITV comedy/drama series, but it doesn't even match up to that. A lack of character development was evident as the list of cameos appearing was so long to give any of them a chance. I came out disappointed, expecting all the way through that real British comedy genius would out itself on the screen. So much talent and opportunity went to waste.
-Christian Slater on the film
"Hollywood tends to disregard tradition, history and anything factual, twisting it and turning it?

Advantages: A good idea, with a great deal of potential. Harry Enfield and Slater are quite good, lots of comic cameo's Disadvantages: Neve Campbell's British Accent, A good idea that greatly disappoints, Could have been a lot better, becomes movies by numbers

I decided to buy the DVD on the off chance as it had looked such a great film in the cinema. When I looked at the extra?s I found the source of my first disappointment, there weren?t any. I was at least expecting some outtakes or even the theatrical trailer, but no there wasn?t anything.
The film itself had a lot of potential. Its shot through the eyes of Hollywood who decide the man we all knew as Winston Churchill isn?t suitable for their movie. So they make him a stooge used by the British government to ease the British public?s fears. The new Winston ...
Advantages: Great jazz tunes from the Golden Age Disadvantages: None
This is real jazz, from the real Golden Age of Jazz. It's got the pace, the rhythm, the fluid trumpet playing, the relentlessly enthusiastic, rolling piano playing and the clear diction of some excellent singing of vocalists who could not only hold a tune, but who could capture your heart and soul, too?
There's musicians with such great names as Muggsy Spanier, Meade Lux Lewis, King Oliver and Sidney Bechet. You do not get musicians called Muggsy nowadays. I wonder why?
As well as straight out jazz such as the Dippermouth blues, there's also the dreamy and melodic April in Paris from Charlie Parker. Some jazz aficionados reckon that Charlie Parker eventually sold out. Well, perhaps he did. But some of his earlier work still stands the test of time.
Jack Teagarden is on this CD, with So Many Times, a rather nice, well ...
