Terry Pratchett feet of Clay

Advantages: funny, witty humour, could read it over and over again
Disadvantages: may end up not getting any sleep because you cant put it down

Feet of clay is another brilliant addition to Terry Pratchetts discworld series. All Terry Pratchetts books have an imagination that most modern writers lack. He fills each and every page with wonderment from the werewolf on the local watch to the golems that start to think for themselves. This book will keep you entranced from beggining to end without fail, It simply has everything you would expect from Terry Pratchett. The comedy is among the best of all the discworld novels in a laugh out loud sort of way. Following vimes attempting to get a coat of arms and nobby shocked to find out he already has one. The bar filled with the local watch gets raided by thieves who are shocked by the lack of panic they get whilst waving around crossbows. The murders appear to have been done by a golem named dorfl who then pleads guilty to any ...

Feet of Clay Words of Gold

Advantages: Plenty to get your teeth into a serious comedy
Disadvantages: Not as funny as some of his work

Having enjoyed the Discworld series for many years i will admit that i have a certain bias in favour of Terry Pratchetts books. Having said that Feet of Clay is a really good read and certainly one of the better books in the sequence involving the watch. It is set on the discworld, a flat disc that travels through space on the backs of four elephants standing on top of a turtle. The discworld has politics, religion, magic and all the standard fantasy fair. It also has equal rights movements for trolls, dwarfs and the undead. In a way the discworld is a warped mirror of this world and Pratchett often uses it to make serious points about the way people act. Because of this his books often have a serious undertone that their marketing as comic fantasy seesk to ignore. Even Pratchetts humour is intelligent, often relying ...

The Best of British - 'Black Boots on Latin Feet'

Advantages: Smooth without being sappy, melodic without being poppy.Really are a refreshingly different band.
Disadvantages: In one or two of the songs, the spanish guitar solos can be a little self indulgent and go on a bit

Ezio are one of the best understated British talents of our time and it really is a shame that they dont have a massive following. They have been performing since 1990 in the university town of Cambridge. The band took their name from one of the band members Ezio Lunedei. Black Boots on Latin Feet is their second (but Debut) album (produced by Rupert Hine in 1995). Although the album is new, the band have a mature vibe with lyrics that are honest and reflective (songs like '30 and confused' really struck a chord with me, accurately reflecting the experience of this significant age). The album is refreshingly different to almost all other British bands and is the perfect counter-act to the Brit Pop scene of the time that was aimed at a much younger market. The feel of the music is melodic and smooth but musicians will see how ...
