Forensic Holmes?

Advantages: Entertaining
Disadvantages: Not sure about Everett, weak story, set in the wrong period

Sherlock Holmes is fast succumbing to his drug habit when a new case takes his interest, and, with the help of Dr Watson, he manages to pull himself together enough to work on the case. A number of girls from wealthy families are going missing, later found dead. All the girls appear to be young and innocent, yet someone obviously wants them wiped off the face of the earth. Then one young girl manages to survive the kidnap. Can she lead Holmes and Watson to the murderer? And will the latest forensic advances help them on their way? Since I was a child, I have loved Sherlock Holmes stories, whether on screen or in printed book form. I am, however, rather choosy when it comes to who plays Sherlock Holmtes. I am Amazed.. Its I am David

Advantages: Very good story, hard to put down
Disadvantages: None

I first read this book when I was in Year 3 (7 years old) it cost me 20p from a school fair. I have read it again recently and have found this book just as good as ever. The story is about a young boy who escapes from a concentration camp, he does not know his parents, what his religion is, where he is from or what he is doing there. When people look into his eyes they are frightend and David wonders why he is so different. One night the opportunity for him to escape arises and he begins to make a run for it. Ahead of him are dangers, friends. enemies and someone else. The book was originally in danish and was translated into english, It won first prize in a scandinavian compertition in 1963. ...

Review of I Am David - Ann Holm

A very early Holmes adventure on the movie screen

Advantages: It is Sherlock Holmes!
Disadvantages: Dated and a bit theatrical

In the world of Sherlock Holmes there are two very well known screen portrayals of Conan Doyle?s immortal detective. Jeremy Brett on the TV screen in the 80?s and 90?s and Basil Rathbone on the cinema screen in the 40?s. There have been many other versions of the character in both formats but most of them are lesser versions, unable to match the style and quality of these two. Before even Rathbone played Holmes though there was a British series of Holmes films starring one Arthur Wontner. The Triumph of Sherlock Holmes was made in 1935 and is one of five Holmes films made in the thirties starring Wontner. One of these is lost forever, a second is rarely seen but the other three are all available on DVD very cheaply.
