Mr Bean - The Animated Series - Vol. 1 DVD

Advantages: distracts the children
Disadvantages: not funny, humour very simple and mostly slapstick or toilet houmour.

I'm quite surprised to learn that some people atually like the animated series of Mr Bean, and find it just as entertaining, if not more appealing than the 'proper' Mr Bean. When I refer to proper Mr Bean I am of course talking about Rowna Atkinson's smash hit comedy sitcom in the 90's which followed a dry and whimsical character make a complete mess of very simple everyday activities like a trip to the swimming pool, parking his car, or visiting the cinema. Personally I love the original Mr Bean, although some detest his bumbling foolish nature, I find him entertaining on a unique scale. Maybe it's because a part of me feels sorry for him or that in some cercumstances it is really quite ingenuis how you can get make some of the simplest tasks a complete disaster. However the animated series proved to be a complete let down ...

Hed Kandi - World Series Vol 1

Advantages: Some good dance tracks across genres
Disadvantages: Not as good as some of their other compilations

This CD is actually a few years ago but I had heard some good things about it when i bought it earlier this year. It has laso benn credited on other music and review sites as an eponymous Hed Kandi CD. Beach House Mix DJ Gregory's Elle opens the disc with an atmospheric Spanish guitar making it an ideal Ibiza chill out track that sounds as if it should be on the soundtrack for the Beach Life game. It synchs seamlessly into Late Night Alumni's Empty Streets, followed by the full 12" version of Fade by Solu Music featuring Kimblee (I already have the Eric Kupper mix) there is an 80s style electro bit in the middle before Kimblee starts warbling again. Starting out with a bit more of an interesting tune Blue Six's Music & Wine was the fourth track which then continued on to be much of a muchness. Love Will Find A Way by ...

Star Wars Clone Wars Animated Series Vol.1

Advantages: Great character design. Interesting Stories
Disadvantages: A bit short.

This is the first series of the Clone Wars cartoon series which fills in some of the gap between the second and thirds episodes of the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. There is a lot to enjoy here. I love the animation style used here which is very stylised and full of energy. The series is produced by Genndy Tartakovsky, the creator of Samurai Jack, and the look and design of Clone Wars owes a lot to that series. All the main characters from the Prequels return in animated form along with a few new characters such as the evil Sith Apprentice Asij Vantress. With the exception of C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) the voices are done by a cast of experienced voice actors and they do a great job, although there is noticably little dialogue in this first series.
