... Thus the Corrs and I parted ways forever…
…that is, until they came 'Home' again.
The album 'Home' went on sale in the US on February 7, 2006 (in the UK and Europe, the CD came out on September 26, 2005). Unlike their other releases, the new album consists entirely of cover versions ... Read review

Advantages: Wonderful source material; appealing arrangements with long shelf life; excellent sound; BBC Concert Orchestra. Disadvantages: Sharon's violin, Corrs' vocal harmonies underused; bubblegum track, 'Old Town'.
The Corrs have finally come home. And thank heaven for that.
Who? you ask.
This multi-platinum selling Irish pop band from Dundalk, Ireland, are four siblings, namely, sisters Sharon, Caroline, Andrea and brother Jim. Although they're less well known in the USA, their music has sold phenomenally well across the globe (large fan bases exist in the UK, Ireland, western and central Europe, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, Taiwan, Australia…but ... ...Not Forgotten' (1995), combined modern pop with a strong Irish sensibility through the use of uillean pipes, bodhràn, tin whistle, and the dulcet-toned violin of Sharon. Although their second album, 'Talk on Corners' (1999), dropped a notch below 'Forgiven', that work still drew mainly upon the Corrs' strengths in crafting melody-rich pop music with infectious rhythms and gorgeous vocal harmonies. However, with the release of the extremely ...

Advantages: Will appeal to Corrs fans new and old Disadvantages: A little quiet in places for some tastes
To my mind, there has always been a very natural and earthy sound to The Corrs, always shining through their brand of charty, sprightly pop. Their latest album "Home" declares the band's intention to immerse themselves fully in their Celtic tradition. Good thing too!
The album kicks off in fine form with a triumphant rendition of the traditional "Lagan Love". I'd only ever heard this classic as a pure vocal rendition, but was won over by the brightness ... ...dancing piano and soaring strings, this ascends into a vision of hope and longing. Fantastic start!
"Spancill Hill" moves into a minor key, capturing the spirit of Irish foggy moors and pubs with roaring fires. It's something of a subdued Gaelic waltz, with a haunting fiddle slipping in seamlessly at the end. Celtic whistles, wonderful harmonies and winds together with Jim Corr's guitar on "Peggy Gordon", a pure and heart-rending tribute to one's ...

Advantages: Some new songs Disadvantages: Only 45 minutes
♫ The new album of the Irish band The Corrs was out in France on September, 27th. I bought it as soon as possible given that I am a great fan of their music.
I was looking forward this new release and I am not disappointed. I had read on a website that it had been released in six months after Caroline's idea.
Caroline plays the drums but was absent on the European tour of the band last year, due to her pregnancy (the birth of her daughter ... ...the beginning of October,2004.
I imagine she missed something by not being on tour with her two sisters and her brother and encouraged them to work on a new album. But I may be totally wrong !!
♪ The cover :
We can see the faces of the four members of the band (clockwise : Andrea, Sharon, Caroline & Jim Corr) : it looks like a painting. At the the center, you can distinguish a Celtic cross, a castle and a figure playing the violin beside ...

Advantages: Good if you are a die hard Corrs fan Disadvantages: Nothing really going for it
The Corrs newest album 'Home' is in the shops and is probably long overdue as far as Corrs fans are concerned.
Unfortunately, I believe they are in for a disappointment. The album consists of 12 tracks and lasts just over 45 mins - and to be honest that is about 35 minutes too long!
The album is very Irish Folk orientated, which in itself is no bad thing. The bad thing is the songs are very dull. Nothing leaps out at you and makes you think, 'That ... ...three of the songs:
Track 7 - 'Old Hag' is an instrumental that cannot fail to get your foot tapping as you listen to it.
Track 9 - 'Old Town' has been taken from the album 'The Corrs - Unplugged'. It is a good song and reminiscent of their earlier songs with a good 'pop-esque' rythmn to it.
Track 12 - 'Haste To The Wedding' is another instrumental that, again, gets your foot tapping.
Sadly they are the highlights of the album - and the 10 mins ...

Advantages: Catchy music with an Irish flavour Disadvantages: Short Album
...Q. What is it?
A. The 4th studio album by popular Irish group "TheCorrs".
Q. And in more detail, please.
A. Irish pop quartet "TheCorrs", released "Borrowed Heaven" in 2004. Three sisters (Andrea, Sharon and Caroline Corr) and brother Jim formed "TheCorrs" in the early 90's.
All 4 of them are supremely talented - Andrea on lead vocals, Sharon mainly on Violin, Caroline on drums and Jim on guitar.
Although their music can be classified as pop, virtually every track in the album has Irish hints to it.
Even though (at the time of writing) they have had only 1 number one single in the UK (Breathless - from their 3rd album entitled "In Blue") they are one of the most popular and best selling bands from Ireland.
They toured after writing the album and packed out concerts in UK, Europe and beyond.
Q. What's good about it...

Advantages: Catchy pop tunes with an Irish hint Disadvantages: Far from their best album
...honest opinion?
A. Although this isn't "TheCorrs" at their best, fans still regularly play and listen to the album.
Q. Where can I get it from?
A. Any good music retailer, or an online store such as play.com for around £9.
Q. And finally…
A. If you like traditional Irish music, "TheCorrs" plan to release an album in the autumn, provisionally called "Home" in which they will cover old Irish songs.
Don't forget to check out my review of their 4th album, "Borrowed Heaven"'....
