I first stumbled upon Keane when i was travelling back home from college on a coach of which radio 1 was on and they played 'Everybodys Changing'. The very melodic notes caught my ear as well as the wonderful verses of which i wanted to known more about the band and i did this by buying the album. My risky purchase was a successful purchase.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The band Keane first formed in 1997 although they released their first album 'Hopes and Fears' on 25.5.2004 of which we will hopefully be due more successful albums from them in the future!
The band are made up of three members and these are as follows:
Tom Chaplin : Vocals Tim Rice-Oxley : Piano Richard Hughes : Drums
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are twelve tracks on the album altogether and these consist of :
1. Somewhere only we know: This is a medium paced song which starts off with a piano playing very melodic notes blending in with light taps from the drums. Tom then starts to sing in a very heart warming / high pitched voice. This is a very chilled out song which can also be classified as heart warming. An excellent start to the album of which was their first released song.
2. Bend and Break: A medium/fast paced song with very distinctive high pitched notes from
the piano to start of with as well the drums blending in well. The chorus to this song will surely get you singing along to it (as it always does to me) where Tom sings, 'If only i don't bend and break'. An excellent song which should definitely be released from this album.
3. We might as well be strangers: A very slow song compared to the previous two, with Tom singing gently straight away accompanied with the piano, drums and bass. Quite a depressing song which is clearly not one of their best on the album (i tend to skip this one!)
4. Everybody's Changing: I would say this is a fairly famous song now as this song has continously been on the radio/tv for the past few weeks. (Their second released song.) Very melodic with again distinctive high pitched notes from the piano accompanied with the drums by Richard. A fairly romantic song but a lot more heart warming than anything which was definitely a good choice by Keane to release this song. I never get tired of this song - brilliant.
5. Your eyes open: Medium paced song with strange notes to start of with played by the piano accompanied by the drums as well as Tom. If you hear this song note the sound effects from birds in the background! A song which takes a while to get used to compared with the excellence of the others but once you do get used to it, you start to realise it is quite good!
6. She has no time: A very slow and depressing song about a failed relationship which unfortunately i tend to skip as it has no particular tune to it apart from dull notes from the piano and very light taps from the drums.
7. Can't stop now: This song starts of with loud thumps from from the bass and then very melodic notes from the piano with Tom then joining into the song in high pitched notes and heart warming verses. Another brilliant song which should definitely be released into the charts.
8. Sunshine: A slow/medium song that starts of very quietly with high pitched notes from the piano and Tom singing ever so gently accompanied with effects from an electronic piano and then light taps from the drums. A very chilled out song which you could listen to whilst lying in bed or in a field with the sun beaming down on you hence the name 'sunshine' ! A brilliant song.
9. This is the last time: Tom heads right into the verses in this song accompanied by the piano and drums. A medium paced song with a catchy tune and repetitive verses that will soon get stuck in your head. A good song but not one of their best.
10. On a day like today: A very space like song with sound effects such as echoing and the feel as if you were in space to start of with. A hard song to get into but once this song has been listened to a few times you start to enjoy it. A slow/medium paced song with Tom singing in a slow high pitched voice accompanied by the drums and piano.
11. Untitled 1: A quick start with an electronic piano and the drums with Tom evenually joining in. This song is slow/medium paced with a 'sad feel' to it but once it gets to the chorus that's when i start to like it as it feels like a song where you are in a world of your own. A fairly weird song which should not be released as it is once of those songs which should only be played as part of the album. A very airy song which takes a while to get used to.
12. Bedshaped: This song is very romantic indeed with lovely soft notes from the piano along with light taps from the drums and Tom singing in a gentle yet unusally high pitched voice. Around 3.22 we get these high pitched voices from like a choir of which the song ends in a gentle yet subtle way. A lovely end to the album.

This album is ideally for people at the ages of 15+ to whatever age as the songs have very heart warming verses to them of which not many young people can relate to.
This is a very chilled out album which i would classify as an 'alternative' or 'indie' genre so if you are looking for that something 'different' then this maybe the album for you with its melodic tunes and catchy yet heart warming verses.
I would say this is an album ideally to chill out to in a relaxed environment or an album to spend those tunes with that special someone.

Overall, this is an excellent first album from a group which have swooped into the charts with their alternative style of music. I recommend anyone to listen to this album or even better buy this album.
