fashioned strumming. You have Frankie Stubbs low North Eastern growl, Davey Burdens melodic bass lines and Andrew Langs wonderfully precise sharp drumming. This combines with superb songwriting, melodies and lyrics that at times makes The Smiths sound cheerful makes for a truly unique band.
This album "Dog Disco" is their 3.5th album (1) on the BYO (Better Youth Organization) Label and their first since the superb "Horsebox" realeased in 2000. The line up is now down to the core three piece of Frankie Stubbs (Guitar and Vocals), Davey Burdon (Bass and Vocal) and Andrew Laing (Drums and Vocal), and it is classic Leatherface from the opening track "Hoodlum" with their trademark guitar picking and powerful melodies, though at this point I do realise that they are really missing a second guitarist. This is no insult to the quality of playing I ...
Advantages: Ties up some loose ends Disadvantages: Generally awful
Its not going to get a high rating as it's so bad. The film does manage to tie up quite a lot of the loose ends and questions from the remake of the original, things like how Leatherface (whose real name turns out to be Thomas Hewitt!) came to be (you also get to see a little of his childhood which gives you clues as to why he's so crazy) as well the plot behind how he became associated with the local slaughterhouse (and why it was abandoned).
You find out how R. Lee Ermy's character managed to become the local Sheriff (it seems stunningly obvious after you've found out). The kids that end up getting killed are 2 guys going to Vietnam (as the film is set in 1969) taking a roadtrip before they go to boot camp but first enjoying a final journey with their girlfriends.
In a generally awful movie (so bad I watched most of it on fast ...

a family of unemployed slaughter house workers live, the most frightening of whom is Leatherface, who as a child had his face scalped so now wears a mask of human flesh to replace his own. One of the youths wanders into the house with grisely consequences, and in search of him the others follow.
TCM takes as its subject the American family, traditionaly a wholesome and positive force, and takes a disturbing look at its dark and incestuous side. The result is an incredibly dark and disturbing piece of film-making, which exists not solely to scare us, but to examine the darker impulses, fears, taboos and repressed desires that lie within us.
This movie has got it all, great characters, atmosphere and cinematography. Not only do I suggest you buy this movie, I suggest you run and buy it right now. A true Horror classic. ...

Album Reviews
Magnet (8-9/00, p.83) - "...This collection of world-weary pop is solid from beginning to end....Tune in to the bright future of punk rock." CMJ (5/22/00, p.27) - "...Emotive without the discordance of emo, furious with simplistic punk politics, Leatherface's music moves with maturity and rocks with the kind of passion you'd expect from those who don't know any better."
