Ok yes I know it's been out for a while and most people will be familiar with it already.

Received this album just last week and I've played it four or five times already and it has some very familiar sounds.

Track listing

1. Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine
2. Mr Brightside
3. Smile Like You Mean It
4. Somebody Told Me
5. All These Things That I’ve Done
6. Andy, You’re A Star
7. On Top
8. Glamorous Indie Rock & Roll
9. Believe Me Natalie
10. Midnight Show
11. Everything Will Be Alright

Of course there are the hit singles "Mr Brightside", "Somebody told me" and "All these things I've done", it's almost like someone has taken my late seventies/early eighties record collection and distilled it into this heady brew.

A little bit of "The Skids", lots of "David Bowie", some very early pre-pretentious "U2", even a soupcon of "Human League" before their lead singer left the hairdresser's halfway through his cut & blow, little memory joggers of "Howard Jones & "The The" and a supersized portion of "The Teardrop Explodes" before Julian Cope completely lost it.

Now, I've got to say that this is a fine album with only the one track looking totally out of place, "Everything will be alright" plods along with a vocoder "enhanced??" almost "Robert Smith"-like vocal, wouldn't persuade me back to a partner, but merely reinforce my decision to leave.

10/11 top tracks represents great value and the plodder is growing on me very slowly.
