Review of Tha Blue Carpet Treatment (Parental Advisory) [PA] - Snoop Dogg by s4m3er

Advantages: some old skool tunes
Disadvantages: some annoying chessy songs

Im a big fan of snoop and love his contribution but i have to admit that this album shows the sway from the old skool to modern day cheesy tunes. Snoop voice is still unique and his main strength and he still utilises this he has also done well to get bug names to feature to boost sales but thats it there seems to be more interest in sales then quality and content. Snoop olds stuff was great and if you liked that then there are only a few songs ...
...His new song candy is honestly awful but some of you may like this and if you do i recommend you buy this. Snoop may never match doggystyle and this is a fair effort overall the best tune is probably '10 lil crips' which shows his simple beats and great voice bonding well. But the fact is that there are some decent songs but the bad songs are pretty bad which make them stick out. If you are a snoop fan like me then well its worth a buy as there ... Read review

Dat's Jus' How Da Dogg Duz It, Cuz
Review of Doggystyle - Snoop Dogg by XICripZ

Advantages: No weak tracks
Disadvantages: Nothing specific

Released in 1993, "Doggystyle" is the debut album from the West Coast rapper known then as Snoop Doggy Dogg. It alongside Dr. Dre's "The Chronic", managed to get then then-upcoming West Coast sub-genre of G-Funk into the public eye. This style, pioneered by Dr. Dre was a type of production which could only really adapt to the gangsta style of West Coast rappers as it used funky rhythm with hard beats. This was Snoop's most successful album, getting ...
...influential rap albums in terrms of the development of Hip Hop. This is likely due to the fact that the rap game had recently settled out on the West Coast and gangsta rap was introduced, bringing Ice-T, Coolio and NWA to the forefront of rap at the time, and with this and The Chronic", a further stage of development came out as this G-Funk sound came into play. Since it's his debut album, I feel I should give a little information on him. He is a ... Read review

Chillin' In The Club In He G-Boy Stance
Review of Tha Doggfather - Snoop Dogg by XICripZ

Advantages: Consistant quality
Disadvantages: Lots of interludes

...(Lude) 4. "Up Jump Tha Boogie" (feat. Kurupt, Charlie Wilson, Teena Marie) This one screams out the sound of urban music in the mid ninties, and what has become a craze over '07 and '08 as you have Charlie Wilson singing to the vodocer (similar to T-Pain's auto-tuner), and here it allows you be immersed within the sound of that particluar era. Most Hip Hop fans will recognise the lyrics as part of the Sugarhill Gang's "Rapper Delight", and this ...
...rap from Tha Dogg and others who aid in conveying this here. **Five Stars** 5. "Freestyle Conversation" Here is a freestyle rap from Snoop and it has him flow in responce to the question of whether he will flop without the beats of Dr. Dre. From here he intermixes spoken word and rhyming to answer how he feels towards this, amongst other things. Snoop is amongst the best at doing such raps as he's always so chilled, but I wouldn't say it was one ... Read review

Banner Gittin' Buck
Review of Certified (Parental Advisory) [PA] - David Banner by XICripZ

Advantages: Lots of variety
Disadvantages: A few weaker tracks

"Certified" is the fourth album from the Mississippi rapper David Banner. I thought that I had to go back seeing that I enjoyed his latest 2008 release, "The Greatest Story Ever Told" so much, so I thought that I would see similar quality from this 2005 piece, which has him do both the rapping and a fair proportion of the production. 1. "Lost Souls" To get things going we drive straight into some straight Dirty South rap. I found that he was effective ...
...wislt managing ito integrate his influences of Rock into things with some guitar work too. **Three Stars** 2. "Treat Me Like A" (feat. Jadakiss) I still don't get how Jadakiss keeps thinking he can on some Crunk beats, but he does it once again as Lil' Jon does the production, and aside the parts which Jada takes up, it is a strong Hip Hop cut for the clubs. **Four Stars** 3. "Gangsta Walk" (feat. Three 6 Mafia, Marcus, 8Ball & MJG) On this one ... Read review

It Looks Like He Won
Review of Me Against The World [PA] - 2Pac by XICripZ

Advantages: Consistent quality
Disadvantages: One slip in quality

"Me Against The World" is the third album by the West Coast Rap legend 2Pac who was killed in 1996 as a result of a fatal shooting. The album came a year before this and has him rapping in what has been called a "nothing to lose" persona as he raps during a difficult time in his life as he was shot five times late in 1994, and was in prison for the release of the record. Despite all this, he was able to top the charts with his music, even with him ...
..."Intro" 2. "If I Die 2Nite" Heavy in bitter alliteration, this one has 'Pac's attitude for the whole release summed up as he really just doesn't care what happens to himslef, as he lives each day for what it is, and knows there's no point in pre-planning anything. **Four Stars** 3. "Me Against The World" Giving him a littel sample of G-Funk with a synth-based prodcution to hand, this one has the artist come with adesperate track, where he describes ... Read review
