Not just your average Ibiza album
Advantages: Great for relaxing to. Not your average Ibiza album. Disadvantages: Can be a bit too relaxing at times. Not to everyone's taste.
I'm not your typical Ibiza type. I want to get that straight before we start.
Anyhow, the other day, I was sitting in front of the infernal box, watching some high-brow programme when an advert came on for this album. It seemed fairly laid back and didn't bring up too many images of drugged up pillocks on some Mediteranian island. As the cover notes go out of their way to explain, there are different sides to Ibiza, the not-so-chilled-out side, ... ...is definately worth paying attention to.
The album is a two-CD set, CD1 being the more laid back of the two. It starts with the mellow sounds of Kinobe's "Slip into something more comfortable", and manages to avoid anything that I'd heard of until Massive Attack's "Teardrop" with it's pounding bass. A fair way apart from each other, but still quite different.
CD1 carries on with more people I've not heard of, before revealing just how long this ...

Hold Up! Weren't There Three Of You Before?
Advantages: A couple of decent tunes Disadvantages: Generally weak
...predictable collaborator in Treach of Naughty By Nature on this one as he comes to deliver some raps on this one for a bit of a twist to things, and here we see that they come with a club tune. It seems like an excuse to do this type of tune when you consider that the first two leading up to it were just like this too and so if it was on its own it might be bareable, but here it just blends in as another one you won't really like. **One Star** 4.“This ... ...worse as they come out with another very generic song and one that features yet more unimaginative lyrics that really doesn't have anything to it and is bound to put you off from the offset as they bring one that completely moves away from the 'Christmas' theme that pushes the album along, and is more concern with amending problems in the relationship they are in. **One Star** 5.“Ahh Hell Nah” We see that here we get a track that has them showing ...

How Original; An 'Untitled' Album
Advantages: Lots of bangers Disadvantages: One weak track
R. Kelly released his “Untitled”ninth album in 2009. It finds that the R&B veteran (who made his breakthrough in 1991 as the lead singer of Public Announcement). Here he makes his comeback after a relatively short time out dealing with personal issues and getting back to form as he moves on from his 2007 release “Double Up”. 1.“Crazy Night” The album kicks off with a straight banger of a track and one that you simply won't be able to ignore if you ... ...2009. It finds him working with Rock City, one of whom come out with a heavy Dancehall toast over the thing to link in with Kells' choice to do it all with a Caribbean accent as he sings and half-raps to what can be called his version of Ron Browz' “Pop Champagne”. **Five Stars** 2.“Exit” Here we see that he comes out with a tune that seems to calm things down a little bit from the hyped club atmosphere towards one that is set in the same sort of ...

Rudolph The Funky-Soul Reindeer? It Gotsta Be Boosty, Baby
Advantages: The Funk Disadvantages: Few songs sound 'Christmas'y'
...2006 and came as a Christmas album from Funk legend Bootsy Collins (known for his work as a bassist in The J.B.'s, Funkadelic, Parliamnet and Boosty Collins' Rubber Band). It finds him bringing his own P-Funk twist on a variety of Christmas hits in that style as well as Hip Hop and Soul as we get him producing and singing with guest appearances from Gary Shider, Fred Wesley, Bernie Worrell and Snoop Dogg. 1.“N-Yo-City” Starting the album we see that ... ...**Four Stars** 2.“Merry Christmas Baby” Here we find that we get a track that brings the Funk out in a way that you really wouldn't have ben able to anticipate (even with the introductory cut) as we see that here we have synth joining some live instrumental bass work from his brother Catfish Collins, and Boosty himself makes his first apparent on the record by coming to deliver a fly hook and half-developed verses that take you back to the times ...
