Mostly from the 80s, not many hits & almost no disco tracks Advantages: The 6 number 1 records Disadvantages: The rest of the tracks are rubbish Well the title itself is a misnomer for starters as the disco era was a fairly short period during the mid 1970's as disco was ousted from the music scene by Punk and the 80's were ruled by 2 Tone Ska then the New Romantics and synth music at least as far as the UK went any way. Disco may have lived on into the 80's in America but it was replaced by electro, hip hop then rap followed by House music. Take it from someone who lived through all 3 decades, disco was dead and gone by the 1980's. So whats on this album then? 1. High Energy - Evelyn Thomas. This was #1 in a few places in 1984 but can't really be classed as disco even though its origins are rooted there. King Of Pop - Michael Jackson Advantages: Great songs, enjoyable listening Disadvantages: Many songs are not featured on the album ...did not quite got to number one when it was released and therefore it isn't on the album. Advantages: Oirginal Disadvantages: Inconsistent In 2006 came an unexpected success as Cee-Lo Green (who found fame as an MC in the Atlanta Hip Hop group Goodie Mob, before having a solo career as a Soul singer) and Danger Mouse (the producer who in addition to these styles, has worked in a range of alternative genres), came to release “St. Elsewhere” as their debut album, going under the name Gnarles Barkley. 1. “Go-Go Gadget Gospel” The album gets underway with a lively composition as the duo ... ...from the very start of the thing by coming up with a tune whihch uses a Hip Hop-based Go-Go backing to support Cee-Lo as he sings in a style which reflects his Gospel past too to come up with one of the most exciting tracks you could possibly think up.
