=Decade Of Discipline=
Review of Discipline - Janet Jackson by
x-stcy-x
Advantages: Janet's Voice and Some Good Songs
Disadvantages: The Odd Weak Song
...on this new album.
Discipline is Executively Produced by Janet herself, alongside Jermaine Dupri. Dupri is one of America's most popular Record Producers and Rappers. It is also Produced by Rodney Jerkins aka Darkchild, another well known and very talented Singer, Songwriter and Record Producer. He is also the VP of A&R for Island Def Jam.

This is just a quick intro to the album, which is Janet logging into her 'media ... ...long black gloves, which have Discipline written in what looks like white paint on one arm, and the sae on the other arm, which says Janet.
The back cover, again is in black and white with a good picture of Janet in the same outfit, with her finger near her mouth in a sexy pose. The tracks are written in black and white, along with the album info.
The CD itself is grey, with Discipline at the top of the CD, in the same writing as the Front Cover, ...

Come with me inside Janet's Velvet Rope
Review of Velvet Rope, The - Janet Jackson by
dan916
Advantages: A whole new Janet emerges, new styles, hard hitting attitude.
Disadvantages: May be too raw for some Janet fans
...release of this album, The Velvet Rope, there seemed to be a noticeable change in both her image and her musical attitude. It was this new side to her that encouraged me to go out and buy this album, and if I’m honest, I didn’t really know what to expect!
Even from a first glance at the cover and styling of the album, you could tell it was going to be something different. The cover is very dark red, and just shows a picture of Janet, ... ...This need created The Velvet Rope.” This sums up exactly what the album is about to show you.
THE VELVET ROPE (4:55) is the first track on the album, and follows on seamlessly from the first interlude. The track opens with a very harsh synthesiser sound, almost industrial in sound. Janet’s vocals are then introduced, and these are very slow, deliberate and almost mystical. The lines of the interlude are repeated, and then the beat for ...

Old School Janet
Review of Janet. - Janet Jackson by
Pmshack99
Advantages: funky and full of great tracks
Disadvantages: tons of two second tracks (???)
Thought I'd go back to the past for this review - the early 90s! Was listening to this album last night and thought it would be a good cd to review because a) it is consistently of a high standard and b) it is probably the last album of janet jackson's which I really enjoyed. It features a ton of great songs and styles and is definitely a must-have.
I bought Janet's last album "All for You" and wasn't too impressed with it. Although there were a ... ...it to the quality of THIS album, it just pales in comparison. Here's a look at the best tracks . . .
THAT'S THE WAY LOVE GOES
probably the most famous hit from the album. laidback, soulful "bedroom music".
YOU WANT THIS
sounds like a cross between "Rhythm Nation", "When I Think Of You" and "The Pleasure Principle" and has a very catchy chorus.
IF
this apparently contains a Supremes sample but I don't recognise it cos I;m not really up on older ...

Slowly deteriorating
Review of Damita Jo (Parental Advisory) [PA] - Janet Jackson by
awerawer
Advantages: Nice songs
Disadvantages: Bad impression
...Practically every track on Damita Jo (which are actually her second and third names!) can be placed in one of two categories. The first is a rehash of her former work; secondly a failed attempt to sound like today’s hip R&B artistes who are actually half her age. You’d think a superstar like her would be confident enough to try something new. Instead we are treated to Janet’s most explicit sexual album yet. In fact, I should probably ... ...displayed in Sexhibition. By the time you’ve done listening to Strawberry Bounce, Warmth, I Want You and Moist, you won’t be thinking about global warming, believe me. I tried quite hard to find something encouraging to say about this record, simply because I think there was nothing wrong with the recent Super Bowl exhibition by Ms Jackson (does that make me nasty, by the way?). But to tell the truth, there’s something desperate ...

17. Feels So Right
18. Doesn't Really Matter
19. Better Days
20. Outro
The first thing ... ...get the fans listening to ALL the songs straight off, rather than merely listening to their favourites for ages before sampling any of the others. "Doesn't Really Matter" from the soundtrack of the second Nutty Professor movie (which Jackson also starred in) was the first single release from the album, and the main impetus for me to purchase the album. Sweet as candy (and without the calorie content!) it reminds me in musical style of an earlier ...
