Mostly from the 80s, not many hits & almost no disco tracks Advantages: The 6 number 1 records Disadvantages: The rest of the tracks are rubbish Well the title itself is a misnomer for starters as the disco era was a fairly short period during the mid 1970's as disco was ousted from the music scene by Punk and the 80's were ruled by 2 Tone Ska then the New Romantics and synth music at least as far as the UK went any way. Disco may have lived on into the 80's in America but it was replaced by electro, hip hop then rap followed by House music. Wikipedia even openly admits that disco died in ... ...elsewhere during the 1980s", probably in less fashionable countries that hadn't adopted whatever was popular from England or America by then. Take it from someone who lived through all 3 decades, disco was dead and gone by the 1980's. So whats on this album then? 1. High Energy - Evelyn Thomas. This was #1 in a few places in 1984 but can't really be classed as disco even though its origins are rooted there. THE BEST clubland album of all time! Advantages: Old & new songs Disadvantages: none ...memories, this is THE BEST clubland album yet, with 3 cds packed full of classic clubland songs you will be listening to it for hours! What great about this album is that there is old songs aswell as new so it is just perfect! Recommend to people who used to listen to or still do listen to clubland, all the old tracks will make you say "Remember this one!?" and the new tracks will have you ravin' for sure. Some funky classic dance for you Advantages: fantastic clubbing songs, funky and poppy Disadvantages: few cheesy ones Recieved this cd as a gift a few years ago and i still have it in the car, pumping all the great dance tunes through the speakers. I am usually into my harder house music but this cd is excellent with a very funky feel to it. There are of course some songs i don't like on it but you can't please everyone and thats what the skip button is for on a cd player. No Frogs Here Advantages: Superlative dance music classic Disadvantages: One or two slightly weaker tracks There have been so many dance acts over the last ten years, I find it hard to remember any of them. In fact, dance music is so risible nowadays, clubs like Ministry and the Ibiza super-clubs must have a hard time filling their dancefloors. I mean who's going to be dancing to that damn-awful stupid frog song? Stone me, this is good. Advantages: Best British soul offering for some time. Disadvantages: Not everones taste. The Soul Sessions was Joss Stone's debut album. Released in 2003 when Joss was only just 17 years old. Incredible in itself for such a mature debut at such an early age, what seems even more stunning to me was that this soul inspired album is by a British artiste. I am having so much fun converting my CD's to itunes, listening to albums that have been neglected. The artwork both on the cover of the CD case and on the CD itself is pretty retro, ... ...the respected publication 'Mojo': "The soul sessions is a revelation". Many of the songs are not her own, being penned in the sixties by artistses such as Betty Wright, who agreed to work with Joss on this CD, another shock to me, American soul legends collaborating with a 16 year old English girl, wow, they must have seen her talent.
