Put this record on! ...the fire...
Advantages: Has a pretty front cover... Disadvantages: Delivery isn't up to the standard it should be...
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! This is one of the most frustrating albums I have ever had to endure... It lives off the reputation of a couple of songs, and frankly, is a dissapointment, and this is coming from someone who didn't have high expectations to start with!
It is a weird mixture of chilled out music, mixed with a couple of 'up-beat' tracks, mixed with fillers (Tracks just put there to make the album long enough to call and album). She regularly overstretches ... ...she just does not sing well enough to sing the songs she writes, a couple of her songs have excellent lyrics, but she just can't deliver them to make their full potential. Maybe she should switch to just writing songs and letting others deliver them properly.
You may think I am being harsh, well maybe I am a little... There are a few good tracks on this album, ones I would recommend to download are Put Your Records On, Till it Happens to You and ...

Ideal for those lazy summer afternoons.
Advantages: Professional, slick and easy going. Disadvantages: A few unmemorable tracks.
...melodies and sensual vocals "The First Lady" is Faith's best effort to date. Finally we are privilaged to experience an album that was decades in the making.
There is a personal touch to this album that her previous efforts lacked. Faith is now feeling better and looking better than ever and it really shows.
Seemingly unaffected by the shift in the R&B market of today Faith settles for smooth yet slick. Faith seems aware she's a little older and ... ...and establishes herself as the first lady. Typical chart topper but infectious. Perhaps the chorus could've done with a little more inspiration.
"Again" is the lead single and a fine tune to cruise along to. It tells of Faith's struggles and addictions whilst remaining positive and strong. Bit of an old-school flavour - a definate contender for the best song on the album.
"I Don't Need It" and "Stop N Go" have a unique feel that translates well. ...

"Funktronic oozescape" indeed.
Advantages: Astounding production, brilliant overall mood. Disadvantages: Can be a definite acquired taste at times.
...rock, funk and folk, so Alice In Ultraland is a far less surprising album than its predecessor. The group have even signed onto the classic Harvest label (Floyd, Deep Purple and so on) and seem keen on letting you know by whacking the label logo on the front and designing the CD as one of Harvest's old vinyl labels. Perhaps they're hoping the album will fit seemlessly next to Atom Heart Mother in everyone's record collection.
Atom Heart Mother is ... ...tracks here, which are neither truly progressive rock, but far less wacky than true psychedelia. They've also infused far more obvious blues and funk influences. The most successful is The Prophet (which may be familiar to those who heard one of the many incorrect versions of The Isness, as Yes My Brother), which is a Miles Davis infused jazz funk piece, complete with wah guitar, bubbling organs and liquid bass. The name Yes My Brother returns here, ...

Overpowered and under-appreciated
Advantages: Great vocals and consistent music Disadvantages: Shame that some tracks had to be dropped
Overpowered is the second album from Róisín Murphy and, like her debut 'Ruby Blue, received wide critical acclaim. But, unlike its predecessor this was much more of a commercial success reaching the heady heights of #20 in the UK charts ('Ruby Blue' only managed #84).
Murphy began writing this album after leaving her previous record label, Echo Records, and signing with EMI in 2006. The influence of having EMI behind her is clear on this album; ... ...sounded like nothing before whereas overpowered lacks this element (but I suppose you can continually reinvent music...). Conversely, it does mean that 'Overpowered' sounds like a complete album rather than the somewhat sporadic offering of 'Ruby Blue'.
2 - Murphy's voice seems to have developed massively with more control and range being demonstrated. 'Overpowered' definitely benefits from this since a more considered album deserves this more considered ...

amazing
Advantages: good voices Disadvantages: none
Eternal's Greatest Hits is a CD that is exactly what the title says that it is- it is a collection of Eternal's greatest, and best, songs.
There are seventeen songs on it, including Stay, Save Our Love, Power of a Woman and I Wanna Be The Only One. These songs, along with the others on the album are very catchy, and display the amazing singing talents of Kelle, Esther and Vernie. The songs are 'dancy,' and make you feel on top of the world when ...
