Classics from 2005...to put it bluntly.....
Review of Ibiza Annual 2005 (The Funky House Sound Of The Summer) - Various Artists by lozy_7682

Advantages: alot of popular songs from 2005, a good mixture
Disadvantages: quite commercial on the first two CD's

...album, if you went to Ibiza in summer 2005 you would to, or if you just love the music. The main part i like is the seperation of funky house on one CD, chilled house on another and classic house tunes on another. However the CD is quite commerical house tunes, so not for people who like their bit of electro and hard house. Some good classic tunes from that year and an album you don't get bored of. Incluing some tunes from Axwell, Joey negro, and ...
...'feel the vibe' and 'I see girls' from 2005, played frequently in that year, in capones, play 2 and sgt peppers if anyone went to those that year. Where as the chilled out songs are taken more from cafe mambo and cafe del mar in the early hours of sunset or sunrise. A nice CD to add to your collection, packed full of dance tunes, classics and some chill out tunes a brilliant random collection. ... Read review

Experiment like a tourist?
Review of Tourist - St Germain by essential1

Advantages: mind boggling
Disadvantages: won't tell you what to think say or do if that is what you want

...on it. The album Tourist is it seems, to me, underground and or experimental in its sound. With this album you can be a sound hearer hearing new songs played and heard for the first like you are one of the hippest people around. I would be happy if lots of us on Ciao got together and bought this album. Or we could download it off the internet either by paying for it as we have been told to on the news or steal it as we are expected to do by the ...
...are sung in English although it is a French album. In order they are Rose Rouge which in English means red rose. It has vocals, trumpet and drums. Montego Bay Spleen is in a dub style with drumming, guitar and organ but no vocals. So Flute is a manic flute. Land Of is a Blues organ and piano drums and saxophone. Latin Note is a piano xylophone and shaker and bongos. Sure Thing is a Blues guitar organ and dodo vocals. Pont Des Arts has an organ, shaker ... Read review

Trance the night away!
Review of Classic Trance Nation - Various Artists by emma079

Advantages: Classic tracks, no fillers
Disadvantages: Adagio for Strings is missing!

...absolute corkers. Three discs of classic offerings to bring those memories flooding back, covered in more detail below...glowsticks optional! So how would you kick off such a collection? Something a few years old, huge at the time and still sounding as good eleven years on perhaps. Step forward Underworld - Born Slippy, the Trainspotting anthem and a great opener for the next 53 tracks. I'll incude the full track listing further down and cherry-pick ...
...Disc One's stand out favourites for me include Storm's Time To Burn, Cosmic Gate's Fire Wire, IIO's Rapture, Angelic's It's My Turn (Angelic being Amanda, wife of DJ Judge Jules), an amazing Tiesto remix of Delirium's Silence, and one of my all-time favourite tunes, Sandstorm by Darude. So many memories of Ibiza and a brilliant, high-energy opening full of mainly chart hits and possibly the most recognisable tunes for the average listener. The second ... Read review

Groove Armada, A groove for everybody
Review of Best Of Groove Armada, The - Groove Armada by pollybeanuk

Advantages: Great laid back groovy beats, consistently good tunes
Disadvantages: long intros

...The album brings together the best known songs.... -Superstylin (great mood lifting dance anthem) -At the River (you'll remember it as "If you're fond of sandunes") -If Everybody looked the same -I see you Baby (starting to annoy me now it's on the renault ad but a good tune all the same) You might also know the summer feelgood classic "My friend" from the album goodbye country hello nightclub. The other tunes are certainly not fillers, most ...
...One of my favourite tracks "Easy" illustrates their only down point, their intros can be just a bit too long. Whilst the intro's do add an atmospheric build up, I often prefer the remixes which cut to the chase. Overall, fantastic album which leaves you with a great summery feel, and not a bit of cheese in sight! If you get a chance to see them in concert, go see. a great talent not to be missed! ... Get Up and Groove!
Review of Soundboy Rock - Groove Armada by lisacallow

Advantages: Eclectic, varied, happy-vibes.
Disadvantages: None

Soundboy Rock is the latest and 7th release for the Cambridge based duo, Andy Cato and Tom Findlay. Loosely described as electronic or funk, their genre has surpassed the hedonisitic, late 90's pop madness, and deposited them into the chill out category. Groove Armada were first recognised in 1997, their claim to fame being a limited single known as "At The River", a track that sampled "Old Cape Cod" by Patti Page, and would slowly propel them towards ...
...headlining this year's event! Soundboy Rock is a first in a while for Groove Armada in terms of an eclectic, capricious collective of some damn fine tracks, cunningly co-ordinated into a steady torrent of trip-tastic tunes. Upon reflection, SoundBoy Rock takes much of it's innovation from the 2001 album "Goodbye Country (Hello Nightclub)" seeing a return to the break-beat, trip hop styling we loved. The album emanates individuality, and the genre-swinging ... Read review
