Unplugged, undeniably good
Advantages: Brilliant performance Disadvantages: 1 weak link
...had really enjoyed is this MTV Unplugged session from 2005. Recorded on her home turf a Brooklyn Academy of Music, this is a showcase for a true vocal talent and talented pianist.
The applause for her opening "Intro Alicia's Prayer" soon dies down and you can almost hear a pin drop until her smooth soul voice takes over. She barely sings 5 lines and the audience are clearly die hard fans as they appreciation of her is plain to hear. Personally, ... ...attitude in her voice, so I welcomed the early inclusion in the set of "Karma" & "Heatburn", which are brilliant examples of that attitude, and performances like this put other wannabee R&B singers such as Beyonce to shame. "A Woman's Work" is a triumph normally, but I have to say stripped right back like it is on this live version it loses a little of it's magic as I feel that the backing vocalists are too much in the forefront. It just feels like ...

Keys The Superwoman
Advantages: Lots of diversity Disadvantages: A couple of weaker tracks
...of her various musical influences as you here clear indications of how the Jazz and Blues sides of her have come into play to get her through this song. The production is fly and engaging to bring you into the album and get you ready for what is to come. **Four Stars** 3. “Superwoman” This was one of the significant t tunes to come off the album and it sees her doing a kind of track which we would recognise from her earlier works, especially from ... ...this production aspects by itself as she sings an empowering ballad for the girls. **Four Stars** 4. “No One” This was perhaps the biggest single to come off the album and it was one which showed the world just how capable she is in not only doing the odd hit, but actually coming up with monster tunes which take over the world for some time. However I have to say that I’m not one who really feel for this one, and although I can appreciate what is ...

'How Come You Don't Call Me'
Advantages: RnB, Soul, slow tracks, upbeat tracks, great voice and vocals Disadvantages: None
...it.
Many of the songs on this album are slow and chilled out relaxing tracks.
My favourite slow tracks on this album are 'Falling', 'Troubles', 'Goodbye', 'Woman's Worth', 'Butterflyz' and 'Caged Bird' which showcase her beautiful voice and vocals really well.
The backing piano and soundtracks are simple and flow really well with the lyrics that are well written making such beautiful music that is easy to listen to, some pretty catchy tunes that ... ...genres with ease.
The other tracks are more upbeat like 'Girlfriend', 'Rock Wit U' and 'Jane Doe'. These show Alicia Keys' cool, funky side and her versatility and ability to sing in various styles.
'Mr Man' is a very unique track on this album which has a really good dance feel to it, a bit of a Latino/ salsa style beat to it and makes it rather enjoyable to listen to and dance to.
One of the more unique slow tracks is 'Why Do I Feel So Sad' ...

A must-have for any Alicia Keys fan!
Advantages: Beautiful arrangements, some brilliant new songs Disadvantages: Could of been more new material, but the CD does not feel empty without them,
Having been lucky enough to go and see Miss Keys live twice, I can honestly say, as beautiful as her voice sounds when its been recorded in a studio, its only when you hear her live that you fully understand how talented she is. This album lets you get closer to the experience of her live performances. Although it has only has a few new tracks, hearing a live recording of her old favourites brings something new to the songs. Some of the arangements ... ...would say some of these versions are better than the orginals. I definitely wasn't left feeling short changed by the limited number of new songs, although the ones that are on there are excellent, particularly Wild Horses, which is a sensational duet with the amazingly talented lead singer of Maroon 5.Definitely one to listen out for!!!
Of the old(er) songs, the version of 'If I ain't got you' is beautiful, as i the arrangement of 'If I was your ...
