“My Posse” came as the debut album from The C.I.A. (Cru' In Action!) in 1987. The rap group was short-lived, and this came as their only full-length (although only really three tracks) record. Within The C.I.A. you have Kid Disaster, Sir Jinx and a pre-N.W.A Ice Cube, and for this album the latter member took care of the writing (as he did with his next group), whilst Dr. Dre (who would also go on to be part of the ‘World’s Most Dangerous Band’ does ... ...going with the titular track and come out with a banger of a tune as they come up with a tune that was very much of the time, but shows the sort of direction that N.W.A> would take as Ice Cube roars the lyrics out, whilst the others come together to flow in a many (and structure) which reflects the style that was especially prominent in the work of the Beastie Boys, whilst the add to the thing with a bit of a Jamaican toasting thing on the hook. ...

It came after they introduced the sound of Hip Hop back in 1979 with their #4 single "Rapper's Delight" (the first in this style to go mainstream, but second if you include The Fatback Band's "King Tim III" from the same year). The group however were not the inventors of Hip Hop, and I don't really wish to go into all that, but it's important to note that the foundations of it are in New York, whereas ... ...to condense it down. The Sugarhill Gang come with an adapation of a sample of Chic's "Good Times" as a basis, and this is important in how it managed to get as successful as it is. As they used such a track which took on a track which united the upper-class with Disco and lower-classes with Funk, and so by using it it allowed everyone to enjoyu the party music together.
