The Biz Is Goin Off!

Advantages: Humourous Raps, Well Produced.
Disadvantages: n/a

This is Biz's first album and was originally released in 1988 on Cold Chillin' Records (at the time, home of Big Daddy Kane and MC Shan). This is a good album, Biz displays his humours approach to rap and his talent as a beatboxer. The whole album was produced by legendary hip-hop producer Marley Marl. The album peaked at number 90 in the US top 200 billboard chart and number 19 in the US R&B/Hip Hop album chart. Pickin' Boogers is the first song ...
...is all about very quickly. This is a fun Hip Hop track detailing Biz Markie's love of boogers and how they have multiple uses; such as placing them in peoples food. Lovely. The other stand-out tracks on this album is Vapours (probably his second best known track after Just A Friend from the album The Biz Never Sleeps) and Make The Music With Your Mouth Biz (a track where Biz Markie's talent as a beatboxer comes to the fore. Overall, this is a classic ...

South Bronx! South, South Bronx!!

Advantages: Bangers throughout
Disadvantages: Nothing specific

“Criminal Minded” came out in 1987 and is often considered a classic album in the Hip Hop genre. It was strictly the first and final album from Boogie Down Productions (BDP) as not long after its released, DJ to the group, Scott La Rock was gunned-down and left KRS-One alone. It was one of the first albums to do what is now commonplace in Hip hop as much of it concentrates upon Gangsta rap, and this new take on Hip Hop had only just emerged about ...
...work from Schooly D, especially the track “PSK”, before the West coast seemingly took over soon after with the emergence of N.W.A, ice-T and Too $hort. 1. “Poetry” This one kicks the album off in a big way, and for the time in which it came out, i seems to have a lot more to it than most would initially see it as KRS MCs about the rhymes which Hip Hop vocalists are not just the people to hype up the audiences, but are more than this as in his eyes ...

Oooohhh. They Went There

Advantages: A few big tunes
Disadvantages: Rapid progression

“Live And Let Die” dropped in 1992 and came as the third and final album to feature the duo of Kool G Rap & DJ Polo (after which DJ Polo’s lack of participation led to little activity afterwards, whereas, of course, Kool G Rap was able to continue to grow as one of the most significant lyrists in Hip Hop as a solo artist). 1. “Intro” 2. “On The Run” They dive right into things here and perform in a style that really reflects the way that things were ...
...a clear advancement of what came on their 1990 album. It has Kool G Rap setting up a nice story that reflects the Mafioso Rap (a style that he was amongst few to popularise). However, I thought that it didn’t really make for all that good listening, especially where the weak, dark beats were concerned. **Two Stars** 3. “Live & Let Die” Here they move into the titular track to the album and it is one that finds them continuing the story as G Rap gets ...

AZ a real Gangsta

Advantages: Az is back dont miss out
Disadvantages: Some weak productions

AZ's The Format is a fluent and complex opus from a largely underrated MC whose undeniable lyrical talent and classic perspective are often overlooked. One of New York's premier rhymesmiths since the days of Illmatic, AZ's albums are each gems in a murky sea of chaos, and The Format is no different. AZ begins with the strong "I Am The Truth," featuring a ceaseless torrent of lyrical bravado over a Fizzy Womack horn sample. Deftly swimming through ...
...introductory track into the equally flamboyant "Sit 'Em Back," featuring the veteran MOP on what is a prime example of AZ's versatility, as he meshes perfectly with his partners in rhyme. The I-am-the-greatest vibe continues with the third track, "Get High," which showcases AZ's material wealth and manages to pull itself out of the rut of bling rap with its deft lines. AZ's next offering, "Make Me," features an exceptional Fresh, and while it isn't ...

How Did We Get From Jamaica To Snowflakes One Song After The Nex?

Advantages: Lots of big tunes
Disadvantages: Nothing specific

“Snowflakes” was released as the first Christmas album from the R&B singer Toni Braxton. Released in 2001, it finds her mixing in a range of tunes which have her taking on familiar tunes that all know from this time as well as some original compositions. It is noted for being recorded at a time when she was newly married and was expecting her first child. 1.“Holiday Celebrate” The album opens up with a track that shows that in this album we are about ...
...lts of effort put into it in order to make it sound much more than your average, quickly-thrown-together Christmas album as we get thoughtful production that mixes in the contemporary R&B trends with the Christmas-y themes for a big opener that I can't find any faults with. **Five Stars** 2.“Christmas In Jamaica” As things move on, we see there here we get what was the second album from the record and a joint that has her linking up with the Dancehall ...
