Additional notes
Album Notes: Elvis Presley won three Grammy awards during his lifetime, all for his gospel performances. The 1967 album HOW GREAT THOU ART, a collection of fourteen sacred songs drawn largely from the standards of the genre, was his third gospel recording and his first Grammy winner. While Presley's previous gospel album, 1960's HIS HAND IN MINE, stayed within the vocal quartet tradition Presley had loved as a child, HOW GREAT THOU ART places greater emphasis on Elvis' solo voice, framed by a larger church choir. Friends and musical associates often remarked that Presley was happiest when singing gospel music. HOW GREAT THOU ART supports their claims; throughout the album, Presley sounds completely at ease with the material. The King's versatility serves him well here, as the material ranges from footstompers ("By and By") to sweet ballads ("Crying in the Chapel," "In the Garden") to the near-operatic title track and a similarly dramatic reading of "Where No One Stands Alone." The final track, "Peace In The Valley," was recorded for a 1957 gospel EP of the same title.
Advantages: a great front cover Disadvantages: Doesn't hae any song lyrics with it
...I love ElvisPresley soooooo much. i'm even named after his daughter. His legend and his music still live on today amd remain with us till the end of mankind. In my opinion i would suggest this cd to anybody because it is a really good cd. He is definately number 1 after all this time and will remain in my heart as number for the rest of my life. I was brought up listening to ElvisPresley and i've always been a big fan.
All of his cd's are very good and i buy just about every Elvis Preley cd i see and i like to watch all of his films which are all very good. His films are different to the songs and some of his songs are included in the films. I love ElvisPresley!!!...

Advantages: Very close - in Graceland, clean and functional, a bit of Elvis feel, FREE bus to Memphis Disadvantages: Not Elvis enough, VERY expensive souvenire shop, ordinary rooms
...building with a large Logo near the top. In front of the reception area is a covered drive through area where posh people can be dropped off or less posh people like us could wait for the FREE mini bus to take you to Sun studios or Beale Street in Memphis. This is a brilliant service as you can go into Memphis and have a look around and a few drinks then catch the FREE bus back from Beale Street without worrying about finding the centre or parking or having a drink ? a really great service we found.
THE RECEPTION AREA:
This is Elvis/50?s tacky kitch in the extreme, just exactly what we were hoping for. There were plastic gold arm chairs and leopard skin print arm chairs in 50?s style, a red sofa, a leopard print chaise long ( my favourite) and an old style black and white TV with Art deco lights and a dark carpet.
You walked from the main...

Advantages: Another towering Elvis performance Disadvantages: None whatsoever
.... Red West wrote in the above book that he filled in on the mike for more than one of the tracks on this album, leaving Elvis to lay on the vocal at a later date!! Though his honey-sweet vocals were gone by now, on this album for the most part The King draws on sheer emotion to see him through. He sings with a world weariness; the sound of a man who knows, the hurt, the joy, yet ultimately the pain. This is as fine an album as the man ever recorded, ironically probably not as he intended.
Does all this make you think this is a terrible album? By rights it should be, but even at this late stage and under the conditions Elvis still puts down a memorable performance and this is a wonderful album, full of great songs, expertly played as ever, with real feeling and pain going into the songs from the man.
A truly towering...
