Mark Owen only gets better! How the mighty fall is his third, and latest album. I liked Green Man, which was his first album, and In your own time (the second), but this one is briliant.
Alone the cover and booklet is something else. It's done in an old twenties style, with only one picture from Mark. (So nothing for you fanatic teenies who like to adore their idol)
The music is very different from the first albums, but it's hard to explain how. The songs are very different to each other as well, so you get a good mix from boogie to pop.
The single that is out at the moment, "Making out" is my favorite from the album as well, but that doesn't mean, that this is one of those albums, that you buy to listen to one song. I like to put it on and only concentrate on the music, not listen to it in the backround when you do something. That would be a waste.
The album songs are: 1. They do - a slow number, that makes you think a lot 2. Sorry Lately - very melodic song that stucks in your ear. Quite slow as well and very sad 3. Making out - released as a single. This is my favourite. It just stays in my head forever when I listen to it. This is more uptempo with great lyrics. 4. Waiting for the girl - sounds like a songs from the twenties 5. Believe in the Boogie - This song just makes you want to get up and dance. 6. 3:15 - sounds like a song from the 80ties with some funny lyrics. 7. Hail Mary - another slow song (to cuddle someone) 8. Wasting away - a bit "rock like" 9. stand - another slow song where the lyrics count 10. Come on - a bit rock at the end
You really have to concentrate on the lyrics and listen to it a few times, to get the real sence.
I can't say, that there is one song that I don't like. It's a brilliant album all the way through!
