Advantages: classic turntablism and hip hop mix, funny and a brilliant listen

...Depending on who you are and what sort of music you listen to or what scene you follow, DJ Yoda is either one of two things; some guy you?ve never heard of, with a funny Star Wars moniker or a hip hop (turntable) legend. I discovered the wonderful world of DJ Yoda back in 2003, shortly after How to Cut and Paste Vol.1 was released. I actually bought Volume 2 first, don?t ask why, I just did. I then bought Volume 1 and every other Album of Yoda?s since. DJ Yoda is a white, Jewish, British DJ, whose skills on the decks would make GrandMaster Flash blink with admiration and respect. High praise indeed, if you know who these people are. Along with Dan Greenpeace, Yoda has a radio show on Xfm but also tours and bashes out these fabulous mixtapes/albums. Advantages: a good length, a nice mix of the elements of hip hop, clever and funny

...This is the first proper outing by DJ Yoda and its sets the bar high for his following episodes. How to Cut and Paste is a turntablists dream. The album alternates between good rap songs and turntablist tracks. Yoda features various Turntablists on his album, giving them a chance to be heard. Even where they, themselves might well be legends in certain circles. Past DMC champions or finalists alike. DJ Plus one, Benny G, A Track and DJ Spinbad all get their time on the wax and it?s a pleasure to the ears. I?ve said it before in my other review of DJ Yoda?s work, but its worth saying again. Turntablism is an overlooked art form. Scratching is not simply pulling a record back and forth on a turntable platter, there?s a lot more too it and many different techniques. Advantages: Fantastic Full-Length Dance Classics
Disadvantages: A few substandard fillers...

...I've got all the Back To Love compilations from Hed Kandi of of "classic tracks that gave birth to a whole generation of clubbers", and was listening to this one (well, both CD's in this double-pack actually) in my car earlier today, so though't I'd let you know what I thought... --- CD1 1. "You're gonna miss me" - Turntable Orchestra (original mix) Classic "italian house" piano, and a great baseline 2. "Love will find a way" - Victor Romeo feat. Latrice Brown Nothing special about this one really, a bit of a filler really... 3. "See the day" - Ann Consuelo (Stonebridge mix) What a vocal ! And more italian piano. 4.
