When I first heard a Linkin Park song, I thought they were just another copy of Limp Bizkit, and full of swearing and pointless lyrics. Boy, was I wrong!!! Hybrid Theory is a very deep and meaningful album, with absolutely NO swearing at all, which may be surprising for such a hardcore band, but all the songs can be blasted from your stereo without any complaints...unlike the Limp Bizkit album, which is securely fastened to my CD rack!
Linkin Park are a new metal group consisting of around 5 members...I can never be sure as they're always moving around headbanging, or whatever. Anyway, there are just *too* many to count! Their music may not be suited to all, but those with the not-so-delicate eardrums may appreciate Hybrid Theory. Although all the tracks on the album sound vaguely the same, due to similar bass lines, the lyrics all tackle different issues.
The songs people may be familiar with are One Step Closer, Crawling, and the new Papercut, which are all amazing in their own way. They also never get boring either - I remember one day I listened to the album 8 times, without getting bored of the tracks. But maybe this was easier than thought at first due to the CD only lasting 37 minutes in total, which, for £12.99, its a rip-off, basically. However, as I said, you can listen to it for as long as you want without getting tired of the same old 12 songs.
I can't say I have a favourite song on the album, as they are all amazing in different ways - even the lyrics make sense, which is weird for a metal band. Although I did choose 2 songs to help me recover from a broken heart - Runaway and A Place For My Head - the lyrics for that helped me to forget about a no-good guy (mentioning no names - you know who you are!), and at the same time, the headbanging helped me to release all my anger...and no, I don't head-bang that often ;) The songs are all good for different occasions - but I'll let you listen to the album to work out which ones suit which moods.
The CD and inlay itself are both very good - it contains the lyrics to the tracks if you want to shout along (which also helps relieve stress!) and pictures, and only a SHORT message from each of the band members, and not a whole essay like most other groups. I really recommend this album, maybe its more for the teens among us, but it certainly helps to overcome any emotions you may come across!

Advantages: Greatly powerful Nu-Metal music, crushing guitar riffs. Disadvantages: Those not fond of guitar heavy music will not be impressed with what they hear.
