I am going to tell you a little about all of the songs on the Linkin Park album, Hybrid theory. I will give you a song-by-song report on the CD.
01. Papercut, possibly the most famous of the tracks on the album and is a popular one with the younger generation. It has a great contrast between rapping against rock backing music. It is a brilliant song and is probably in my top 5 of the album.
02. One step closer, a fantastic song, similar backing music to Papercut but a brilliant piece of rock with the singing, it's utterly awesome. It is my number one song and I personally like the way the song moves from slow 'alternative' rock to fast, upbeat, sudden hard rock.
03. With You, this is an interesting one with great singing, and a hint of rapping sort of drifts in the background. Some of the obvious lyrics of Papercut are mentioned in the song. It is a good song, with some of Linkin Park's typical, but good, music.
04. Points of Authority, just like One step closer this song contrasts from slow rock to fast, hard rock. It is a great peice of work from the album with great lyrics. This is a very big favourite of mine. This is a really modern song, a brilliant song.
05. Crawling, a class song, great music. A little too similar to Points of Authority. A little slow compared to other Linkin Park songs but does have a good contrast. Once again this song immediately switches from slow rock to hard rock.
06. Runaway, a brilliant song. I don't have superlatives to cover this song, it's excellent. It is a mix between 'metal' and 'rock'. But I do have some critisism over this song because of its lack of new lyrics.
07. By Myself, good tune, good beat, good rapping... good song! It is a really ultra-modern song and reminds me, slightly, of music from 'The Offspring' because of its fast lyrics, in the background.
08. In the End, strangely quite slow music but has many fast, upbeat words so is an obvious piece of Linkin Park's music. Has relatively odd music because it is so much like, what I think is, 'Aerosmith's' music, because of the depressing beginning music, followed by much faster and modern music.
09. A Place For My Head, very much one of the best tracks on the album with brilliant contrast between two kinds of music, and also very suddenly stops and starts. One of my favourites.
10. Forgotten, Really fast, quick music. Absolutely awesome lyrics, and the most 'cool' song on the album. It is so fast and has so clever lyrics I would eternally listen to Linkin Park's music because of how pucker this song is.
11. Cure for the Itch, a weird, zany song. So weird, I was literally wondering if I had the right CD in the stereo when I first heard the song. There are no lyics in the song just plain music but is only 2 minutes 37 seconds long.
12. Pushing Me Away, a really good closing song from the album and involves some of Linkin Park's best music, with really good sound from the drums.
So in a nutshell, this album is a must buy, it has sheer excellence for any good rock fan. Out of ten this gets a 9 from me, I would've given it 10 but it has a slight lack of iventive lyrics.
Thanks for reading, Steve.
