Moby is an exceptionally talented individual, you only have to listen to Play to know that. When it comes to that particular style of music (whatever it's called) then Moby relly is at the top of his league. What's more when I see him on TV he seems like a really nice guy to boot. That's why I don't begrudge him this album, which to be honest, strikes me as a bit of a failed experiment.
Although it isn't the title track, the main track of the album really is the James Bond theme, which really rocks. It mixes the funky guitars of the well known 007 riff with some steaming dance music and the result is a really energetic and enjoyable bit of music.
"I like to Score", (which is a track as well as the name of the album) is good too - here we see Moby doing what he does best - this trancey track is echoed in other tracks throughout the album, and is a really nice, relaxing bit of music.
Other than that though, things start to go a bit wrong. It seems that Moby wanted to play around with other styles of music, and the resulting hardcore dance and dark grungey metal not only fails to fit in but isn't particularly nice to listen to.
Still, if Moby wants to experiment then that's fine with me, just as long as he doesn't forget what he does best, and what we want to hear. If you're a real fan then buy this album and maybe you'll find it to your taste, otherwise just buy Play and anything else from his back catalogue that takes your fancy.

THE TRACKLISTING:
Disc 1:
1) Moby - First Cool Hive
Any opening of an album is important and this album starts off with the correct note. Taken from Moby's 1997 album "ILikeToScore", it uses a break-beat track to start the set in a powerful way to set the mood. As always, Moby has a well orchestrated chord ...
Advantages: Fifteen good tracks from Moby Disadvantages: Tracks have strong similarities with the last two albums
-mixed the 'James Bond' theme for the movie 'Tomorrow Never Dies' on his 4th studio album 'ILiketoScore'. Although this bought him a wider audience the album was not a commercial success and he parted ways with the record company. The next album Moby made was 'Play' released in 1999 and to his credit was a commercial success with every track on the album being hawked by advertising executives the world over. Next was '18' in 2002, which was much of the same music as 'Play', but with a more techno flavouring. Following this recent trend Moby has adopted another one word album with this his latest release 'Hotel'.
~The Album~
The CD comes in a standard size case with a cover picture of the camera shy Moby looking out of a glazed window admiring a view over a city. As Moby is a 'Big Apple' resident I will assume that the photo call was in New York ...

Ciao members have rated this review on average: very helpful Review of Hotel - Moby
On the limmited edition it has all the music videos on it as well! An excellent touch I think!
The cover is the only downside that I have found, it looks nice now but after time it's going to be a bit scruffy as it's made like a hard back book with no plastic covering. (*)
