Advantages: Beautifully preserved and evocative Disadvantages: STEEP
I've always wondered why Robin Hood's Bay was in North Yorkshire and not in Nottinghamshire. One explanation might be that Nottinghamshire, being landlocked, is not over-endowed with bays. Another is the sheer logistics of moving it from one county to another.
Robin Hood's Bay is around 5 miles south of Whitby, and some 15 miles north of Scarborough on the North Sea coast of North Yorks. I've researched a little, and I can find no explanation of why this place has such an interesting name - it doesn't matter anyway.
There are records dating back from 1536, apparently, of a small settlement of around 50 houses and 20 fishing boats but nothing about its namesake. Besides, the locals prefer to call it Bay Town.
There may be some tenuous connection to the 'Prince of Thieves' though. Fishing has always been the mainstay of this ...
Advantages: Great acting, excellent storyline and effects Disadvantages: None from me
a whole gang of outlaws who also hate the work of the Sheriff and they all agree to help Robin with his plan.
Will Robinbe able to take down the Sheriff and get back his land and just how far will his friendship with Marian go?
I have seen this film so many times now and each time I still have the same amount of love for it. I thought that Kevin Costner was an excellent choice for the role of Robin and he came across as a very strong man. He at times did show a sensitive side but this was kept hidden for the majority of the film. I think he worked well with all of the other actors and they all had a great on screen chemistry. Morgan Freeman took the role of Azeem and he too did an excellent job. I liked the fact he would stop what he was doing no matter where he was just to pray and I think the banter which was sometimes had between him ...
Advantages: Dramatic, Good Acting, Fantastic Soundtrack, Brilliant Plot! Disadvantages: Would have loved more Special Features :(
I am a Robin Hood addict. (Richard Armitage and Jonas Armstrong are just one of the reasons... If you get my drift)
What Is It?
This DVD contains the first five episodes of the BBC new series about the legendary outlaw, Robin Hood. This was first shown on the BBC, and later released as DVD's, however they can now be bought as a full box set, and no longer per every 5 episodes. There are three volumes in this series, all of which I own. This is another take on the outlaw, and is seen to give him a new light and make him much more exciting and thrilling. This is PG rated and is suitable for children, as long as you don't mind them watching the odd sword fight.
Since 2006, a new series of Robin Hood was shown on the BBC and most recently series 3 is on our screens. I watched the first episode of series one and since then have ...
