with I Need You, following the worldwide success of the single "Can't Fight the Moonlight". Her last full length offering (LeAnn) was effectively a homage to her main influence, Patsy Cline, but I Need You is smartly produced mainstream pop of which "Can't Fight the Moonlight" is the standout. Several huge AOR ballads, like the title track, recall The Corrs, while "Written In The Stars" is a rather dull duet with Elton John. "But I Do Love You" has more than a little Alanis Morrisette about it but without the dippy energy, while the barroom rock of "Love Must Be Telling Me Something" is as flat as week old beer. After just ten tracks, I Need You concludes with three dance remixes that only demonstrate how much more bold this album could have been. --Mike Pattenden
Advantages: Great Voice and Great tracks Disadvantages: some badish tracks
...with the Ballad “How Do I Live” which got her worldwide recognition. She, in a few years later, burst onto the scene with the hit number one single “Can’t Fight The Moonlight” which was number one on both sides of the Atlantic. It was the theme to the Coyote Ugly movie of which four songs that were sung by Leann were included into the film.
The first track off this album is the albums namesake “I Need You” ... ...water, like breath like rain”. I love this song, it has great vocal accompaniment and it truly demonstrates Leann’s very powerful voice. The song on a whole is one of my favourites on this album is very well performed by all. This has all that’s wanted from a good love song, emotion, dynamics (inc. crescendos) and a great voice and melody.
The next track, the first release “Can’t Fight the Moonlight” was a number ...

...compilation album then, released with, I believe, some discontentment on her side. She is not a stranger to court-room actions so we shall see if Curb are taken to task by her attorneys.
I must point out at this juncture that if you believe my maths is faulty that I have the N.American version released some time ago and not the recent U.K. edition that contains 3 extra filler tracks tagged onto the end.
I really like modern country music that has ... ...Dixie Chicks,Trisha Yearwood etc) and I really enjoyed "Sittin` On Top Of The World" Most of this selection have only tenuous connections to country being far more pop oriented than anything she has produced so far.
I must admit to being very disappointed at first hearing, to witness her evolution into a pop mega-star,especially after making the efforts to obtain this before it`s U.K. release.Once, though,I`d overcome the initial shock I`m coming ...

Leann Rimes - I Need You
(1) I Need You
"I need you like water, like breathe, like rain."
A relatively slow ballad, which is typical of Leann's country style of music. A 'male dependent' song, like 'How Do I Live', and most of the tunes on this album. Due to be release as a single soon. I'll let you know when. Definitely should make it into the top 5, I know I'll buy it. Sounds like it should be on the soundtrack for Dawson's Creek, probably is. ... ...alone at night. And I don't like to hear I'm wrong when I'm right. And I don't like to have the rain on my shoes but I do love you"
Taken from the sound track of Coyote Ugly. The first bit played on the acoustic guitar is what they used on the trailer. This is the sort of song you sing in the shower, or when you're driving. Very addictive. (3) You Are
"You are the potential in me. You are the my strongest link. You are everything I ever wanted ...

Advantages: Leann's brilliant voice (though wasted here); the two hit singles Disadvantages: Most of the tracks, especially the sickening Elton John duet
I must start off my review by stating for the record that, as a singer, I think Leann Rimes is hard to beat. She has a fantastic voice and with the right song can do amazing things. Unfortunately she and everyone else involved with her don't seem to know what to do with her. Her background is in country music and this is where she first came to prominence with Grammy award winning album Blue a few years back when she was only 13 or so (she's not ... ...at least two occasions--How Do I Live and, most recently, the number one UK single, Can't Fight the Moonlight (both of these songs were incidentally written by the fabulous Diane Warren). While, there have been successful pop singles, the would-be pop albums have proved more of a disappointment. The latest--I Need You--just doesn't seem to know what it's supposed to be. I has the upbeat Can't Fight the Moonlight and another single, the title track, ...
