Well to be fair to the lads I certainly wasn't disappointed as the album was a lot better than I had expected.
So who are Supergrass I hear you ask, well for anyone that doesn't know they are three mates from deepest Darkest Oxfordshire who sprang onto the ... ...memories attached for everyone as I know it does for me. Again like most of the other songs on this album the lyrics are easy to remember and even easier to get carried away singing along to in the car. Track 5: Lose it
*************
This is a little bit down-beat as you would expect after a hyper song like Alright. Sounds a bit like the stuff on “In It For The Money”. A bit darker and slower but still with catchy lyrics and an easy beat to tap ...

Coco Pops Review ofI Should Coco - Supergrassby
paule23
Advantages: Lots of bouncy songs, real good fun Disadvantages: The last song!
I don't think I know of another album with such an exuberant, extravagant, fast and furious start as I Should Coco by Supergrass. For those of you not in the know (and if not, WHY NOT!), Supergrass are a three piece band hailing from the deepest, darkest depths of Oxford and are made up by Gaz Coombs on lead and vocals, Danny Coffey on drums and Mick Quin on bass guitar. I should Coco was their first album, and lodged itself at No.1 in the UK album ... ..."Caught by the Fuzz", and I think they mean the police rather than any other sort of fuzz you could think of! The power and exuberance doesn't let up, with Mick on bass going manic, with Gaz on lead guitar and Danny on drums not far behind! Track 3 is "Mansize Rooster" and starts with a drum cymbal beat, in kick some keyboards and vocals, then after 20 seconds it all kicks off completely, another manic song that you're tapping foot can only just ...

Alright? Review ofI Should Coco - Supergrassby
bjlangley
Advantages: Fantastic Disadvantages: none
It's more than alright, its great! It's one of the best debut albums in my collection and it shows a great deal of potential for the albums that followed. There are some quite strange songs lyrically, such as Strange Ones, and I'd Like to Know. Alright is my no means the best song on the album, but it certainly helped with sales! She's So Loose is one of my favourites. Throughout the album the music is consistantly brilliant, with fantastic drumming ...

Advantages: Some great songs Disadvantages: Some may find them a tad cheesy
Supergrass’s first album sounds unlike any of their other albums. There’s definitely a more punky/ska feel to it, and some may feel moved to add cheesy to that list – but not me. This album includes the single, Alright, which is what introduced most people to Supergrass though it’s a pretty poor indicator to the mood of the album. There’s only a couple of other tracks that have a similar bright ‘n’ bouncy feel to them, namely We’re Not Suppose To ...

Advantages: 11 out of 12 really good tracks, less rock more relaxing. Disadvantages: Self-indulgent track 12
...Everyone who has not already done so should go out and buy a copy of this album. Not because it is an extremely good album, but because of it’s title. Every CD collection should have an album entitled “Onka’s big Moka” nestled amongst it’s ranks. I’ve no idea who or what an Onka is, and as for a Moka, I’m not sure I even want to know! Still, it is such a cool title! Certainly beats such inspired creations such as “Steptacular” and “Britney”!
So, it’s got a cool title, but is the album any good, well in a word, yes. I’m on a bit of a roll at the moment with album purchases. the last two albums I have bought have been absoutle crackers, IShouldCoco by Supergrass and Songbird by Eva Cassidy. This album by Toploader is continuing the trend.
Toploader are a five piece hailing from Eastbourne and are made up of Joseph...

Advantages: Decent debut album, sprung from nowherem building a gradual reputation Disadvantages: Maybe the wrong choice of track to end the album.
...Once again I've come across with a pretty decent debut album by a very good new band. The Kooks are the latest product of what seems to be quite a vibrant Indie scene in Brighton, which previously brought us The Ordinary Boys. The Kooks released their debut album in January this year and seem to have quickly set about making a name for themselves. With appearances on Jo Wiley and Zane Lowe's shows on radio 1 and the band already confirmed to play Reading and the Isle of Wight it is bound to raise their profile by the end of the year.
The band mix a whole range of styles and influences within their music. From glimpses of the Kinks deeply immersed within a number of the tracks to the more recent happy go lucky pop sounds of Supergrass. It would seem that a return to the "IShouldCoco" era Supergrass style is quite evident from...

Advantages: tracks 1-10. all fantastic, sing-a-long anthems Disadvantages: 11-15. notably the new songs like 'bullet'
...) the 21 songs cover it all. The bands quintessentially English writing style (ala Kinks, Small Faces, Madness) is on display here, to perfectly celebrate a band who've served us well over the years. This album is a must buy even if you liked just one of their songs, and even if you already own their 4 previous efforts (IShouldCoco, In it for the money, Supergrass and Life on other Planets). It brings all the best bits together.
Here's an individual mini review of the each of the 21 songs on the album:
1. Caught By the Fuzz - 2:19
This was the birth of Supergrass. They came out kicking and screaming with this rocky number which recalls the true life incident of lead singer Gaz being arrested by the 'fuzz' for smoking cannabis. Despite only reaching 43 in the singles chart it became one of the fans anthems at live gigs, perfect for head...
