I'm a Dapper Dan Man

Advantages: Very Funny, Great soundtrack
Disadvantages: Not everyones Cup of tea

. Listen to the song “A man of constant sorrows”, you can’t miss it and Im sure you’ll like it. Clooney was one of my biggest worries about this film, to be short, I would never of cast him in a comedy role. Just goes to show why I don’t get to work in Hollywood. George Clooney is absolutely fantastic and shows a real sense of humour and comic timing that I never would have associated with him. That said the whole cast put in some blinding performances and I can’t think of one character that damaged my enjoyment of the film. A special well done to Ed Gale for being the Little Man, that was fantastic. >>>>Conclusion<<<< Well as you can probably tell I love this film, the humour is very off the wall and yet has bits that will get almost everyone laughing. I was surprised with how much I ...

Review of O Brother, Where Art Thou? (DVD)

Damn! We're in a tight spot!

Advantages: Great script/cinematography/cast/direction from the Coens
Disadvantages: Absolutely none

O Brother, Where Are Thou? is a 2000 film brought to us by the hugely talented Oscar winning writing/producing/directing duo the Coen brothers. Loosely based on Homer's Odyssey, the film chronicles the adventures of Everett Ulysses McGill (played by George Clooney) and his two companions Pete (John Turturro) and Delmar (Tim Blake Nelson) through Deep South 1930s Mississippi. The three convicted felons escape from a chain-gang in the hope of reaching Everett's home before it is flooded by a new dam, to recover the buried loot of a bank heist. Travelling through the barren, sparse landscape, they are confronted by numerous strange characters including a blind prophet, a trio of sexy sirens and a one-eyed bible salesman (all clear references to Homer's Odyssey). Stereotypical figures from Southern US history are also embedded into ...

Review of O Brother, Where Art Thou? (DVD)

O Brother, Where Art Thou? Movie Review

Advantages: Thought provoking.
Disadvantages: Maybe a little too slow for some.

This is a film that deserves perseverance. It trundles along and whilst you're watching it you fail to fully appreciate just how enchanting it actually is. It wasn't until a few hours after leaving the cinema that I truly realised the true message of the story. There is little more to say as to do so could result in seriously ruining the experience for others. It should be up to the individual to truly make up their own mind about the ideas put to them. This is a comedy but not in the riotous 'Something About Mary' way but with a relaxed pace which makes you leave the cinema in a mellow and extremely content state of mind. ...
