Advantages: Everything! Disadvantages: You may need to make a few modifications to your kit, worth it though.
I first played this game at my uncle's house, and within about 5 seconds I was addicted.
At this point I had already played the games predecessor 'Guitar Hero', and so had an understanding of this sort of game, particularly the guitar. Rock Band, however, is far better.
Like Guitar Hero, Rock Band is split into four difficulties. Easy, Medium, Hard and Expert. You can do a solo tour and play all the songs in sequence at different difficulties (easy has a few less songs than the other difficulties, which makes sense, since some rhythms can only go so easy).
On multiplayer the format changes, and you play in different cities and venues, gaining 'stars' to move on with the plot of the game. You can have up to 5 stars, depending on how well you play the song. I don't think you can get less than 3 or you won't complete the track ...
Advantages: Great show, different format to other shows of its kind, great presenting. Disadvantages: Annoying time fillers, too much make up, wouldnt survive now.
questions to be asked & answered in our house were do they look like the person they think they sound like & do they sound like them? The make-up team normally did a very good job but some of the people were just rubbish & I remember on one of the last series seeing somebody who thought they looked & sounded like Eminem and they just did this atrocious rap that made my skin crawl!
The show was quite good viewing and as the weeks went on contestants would get eliminated and then at the final the contestants would normally meet the person they were taking off (providing they were still present on this earth of course!) and there would invariably be tears and happiness and these episodes were always my favourite.
I always used to badger my Mum to let me phone in and vote for my favourite acts in the final and the call prices were very reasonable ...
Advantages: Colourful pictures, story is in rhyme Disadvantages: Some of the tongue twisters are hard to say!
A few weeks ago my nephews and niece came to sleep at my house, my youngest nephew wanted me to read a story before he went to bed and Fox inSocks by Dr Seuss was the one he picked. I gave him a choice of Dr Seuss books but he chose this one, as he'd never heard it before.
Dr Seuss (pseudonym of Theodor Seuss Geisel) was born on 2nd March 1904 and died on 24th September 1991. During his lifetime he wrote nearly 50 children's books. He was probably most famous for The Cat in the Hat, which has also been made into a film.
The whole book is written in rhyme which I think makes it more enjoyable for the children listening. The general story line is Mr Fox is trying to get Mr Knox to lots of different tongue twisters but poor Mr Knox just cannot get his tongue around them (I don't blame him - I found some of them pretty difficult ...
