Advantages: Amazing contrast of voices, Disadvantages: Some sonic quality is lost due to the age of the recording
...This CD is a brilliant stepping-stone into the Jazz world. The instantly recognisable voice of LouisArmstrong is familiarly heart warming, Louis stood next to the sensational Ella, make a fine pair. The strong vocals are supported by the excellent band, with great instrumental links keeping the listener on the edge of their seat.
The intensity and coarseness of Mr. Armstrong's voice compels the audience to wish for the next scat solo or the next parade of incredible human talent that is Louis. Of course the same can be said of the sassy Ms. Fitzgerald who can sustain these high levels of aptitude.
I recommend this CD to any budding music fan who wishes to broaden their Musical horizons! HAPPY LISTENING!

...Forget that this music is now 60 years old and that it's something that your Nan & Grandad would get up and dance to.
This has class. This has style. This has cool before we even knew what cool was. This is in my top ten albums of all time, THAT'S how great the music on here is.
The Glenn Miller Story was the name of the biographical film, starring James Stewart and June Allyson, and this has some excellent examples of his phenomenal contribution to the music world.
It starts off with "Moonlight Seranade", a marvellous tune to smooch to. Cheek to cheek, a slow shuffle and you too can feel you'vegot gravy browning on your legs with a pencilled in seam. If you ever really want to, of course...
Next is the well-known "Tuxedo Junction". Played by many swing bands over the years you can't match this track for sheer longevity. Cool, laid...

Advantages: The best under one roof (so to speak) Disadvantages: None
...This is, truly, a great cd. First of all, you have to ignore the cd artwork (tasteless and bland)... it doesn't reflect what's on the inside.
Is it kitchy to purchase this type of cd... it probably is from the true music buff collector's point of view... but hey, who cares.
This cd has everything going for it... top of the list is the price (great value at under £7 in most shops)... next there's a great selection of artists including James Morrison (You Give Me Something), Razorlight (America), Snow Patrol (Chasing Cars), Keane (Is It Any Wonder), and then there are all those old time favourite artists such as James Brown, LouisArmstrong, Marvin Gaye, Sting and R.E.M. Obviously, I've named only a few of the artists, there are 37 of them total with as many great songs... all packed onto 2 cd's.
The truly brilliant aspect...
