Advantages: Solid, aggressive metal album Disadvantages: Not many tracks
...As a big Iron Maiden fan, I was destined to love this CD. Their debut album kicks of with "Prowler", a fast rocker with gritty guitars and fast drums. Other memorable songs include the epic "Phantom of the Opera" (guess the time signature), the classic "Running Free" and the first in a four part saga about a London prostitute "Charlotte The Harlot". Follow ups - "22 Acacia Avenue", "Hooks In You" and "Here To Eternity".
And for the obsessive fans, notice that drummer Clive Burr's name is actually spelt wrong on the CD sleeve (not on newer re-released version) as Clive Durr! I would also reccomend the live version of "Phantom of the Opera" on "Live After Death" (LP, Cassette or re-released CD version only).
Oh yeah, and the artwork rules - rock on Eddie!...

Brucie's Back Review ofWicker Man, The - Original Soundtrackby
nicks
Advantages: Great to hear the old line-up again Disadvantages: Only one new track
...The first offering from the new Maiden incarnation, with Bruce Dickinson back in the fold. This single comes as a 2-CD set, with the title track on each of course.
The opening bars are unmistakably Maiden, with Brucie's voice slotting back in as if he'd never been away, and it is quite surprisingly good. Don't know why it wasn't called "Your Time Will Come" mind you, as that is the hook in the chorus.
The other four tracks featured are all recorded live on their 1999 tour (and the 2000 dates are listed, gallingly showing just the one solitary night in the UK - London of course), with two of them coming - surprisingly - from the Blaze Bayley era. "Man On The Edge" is undoubtedly the best offering from that unhappy time for the band, and "Futureal" is also one of the more memorable ones.
We also get two classics - "Powerslave" and one...

Advantages: Compelling listening Disadvantages: You can't get the songs out of your head!!
...Immediately after you've seen this musical perfromed at the theatre, this soundtrack becomes a must have! The soundtrack to this musical is flawlessly written and truly captures the emotions displayed on the stage.
This probably wouldn't be a good buy if you have never seen the musical and its impact on you, as the listener, would be greatly reduced as you can't associate it with the stage performance.
The songs on the soundtrack are very varied in style and approach, reflecting the various ages of Mickey and Eddie throughout the musical. From there childhood as naughty, cheeky seven year olds through Kid's Game through their adolescence to their difficult and different adulthoods. The second track, Marilyn Monroe acts as a fantastic insight and introduction to the life into which Mickey is born. The final track, Tell Me It's Not True...
