...- Changing Faces. Ok this isnt bad. To replicate the original should be quite simple, its a slow song with very little percussion and this track is the same. Two voices sound good on it though All My Life - Another ok track. TQ gives it a little something and you apprechiate his efforts. Good beats I Wish It Would Rain Down - Not a fan of Phils version let alone this one. Its just a bit bland Take Me Home - Malik Pendleton. If you want to hear a different version of this song, Bone Thugs have a version on one of their albums which actually features Phil in the video. This is again too bland. Overall not great. Some bigger tunes could have been attempted like Two Hearts, Physical Touch and Groovy Kind of Love but they would have probably messed those up aswell! ...I suppose Bruce Springsteen is the Marmite of the music world - you either love him or you hate him - or, like many youngsters who encountered him at Glastonbury this year, you have never heard of him (shame on you). For me, any music that evokes memories of my mid-80s school discos, is automatically beyond any criticism, and the title track from this album is no exception. Of course, one track doesn't make an album, but it can very often be the sole reason for purchasing it. I have often thought that Springsteen's lyrics were a little suspect, but very often these take second place to the power and emotion of the music and the mood he creates - and this album is Bruce at his raw, belting best. ...Shall we say something of a different review from me this time round. Modern rock aside, grunge gods given a break and onto one of the most respected musicians of my era. Bruce ?The Boss? Springsteen is a man that has always known how to connect with his audience, whether it be through a 10 million selling album, a appearance on any one of the numerous American late night talk shows or even a John Kerry political rally, he?s a man with a great influence on the public. The music he makes gets to the point and is direct, generally incorporating beautiful harmonies as heard on ?Born In The USA? and ?Streets Of Philadelphia?. Despite not being what you would consider a fan, I find it very easy to sit back and listen to his music and feel genuinely emotive.
