Don't Read This Opinion If You're Clever

Advantages: Clever writing, anarchic wit, original thinking.
Disadvantages: Optimistic they are not!

Tibor Fischer is a comic: he is a stand up in the great English tradition of anarchic humour and preposterous one-liners. He sets his worlds in the absurd and will be single-mindedly scabrous and savage in his search to make us laugh. Given that he is fundamentally a joker I suspect that it is reasonable to take the title of this collection of short stories with a pinch of salt. Indeed the very audacity of the title and the knowledge I now have that these stories are downright accessible to all makes me suspect his tongue was firmly in his cheek when he chose that most pompous and ridiculous of headings. Now given that you have no real reason to believe me (and if you turn to Amazon you will find lots of poor souls who have somehow missed the joke?) let me instead prove my point by mentioning just some of the names ...

You Don't Mess With The Zohan

Advantages: Very Funny
Disadvantages: None really

friend Michael (Nick Swardson aka Will Ferrell wannabe). This a little more silly than normal Adam Sandler movies, which is saying something. At first I thought it was going to be more of a spoof than a normal comedy, but it thankfully didn't turn out this way. The movie is funny from start to finish, with a lot of comedy coming from some of the characters that play a lesser part in the movie. The Israelis, who run an electronics store, are very funny with their superb selling and bargaining skills. There's also a Palestinian, played by Rob Schneider, who Zohan had a run in with, back when he was working for the Israeli Special Forces. The plot to the movie is very predictable and doesn't have any surprising twists; it acts more of a way of getting in as many silly and funny situations as possible, without having no point to it ...

Pretend you don't See Her!

Advantages: Suspense, good story, good characters
Disadvantages: None

of a dark evening if you are on your own whatever you do!! This was really a fascinating part of the book for me. The witness protection program has always fascinated me. I can't imagine what it would be like to be taken away from your life, family and everything you know and be forced to live away from it, knowing that life is carrying out without you but knowing that if you try to go back your life could possibly be over. I thought this part of the book was really written well and you could feel the heartbreak she was felling and the desperation. She meets a nice man, the only thing that has been missing in her life but she can't tell him who she really is and this really gets to her too. I would say this book is great for women but I think men would enjoy it too. There is a little bit of violence but I would say that it is suitable ...
