You could almost credit the label with the discovery of most of our recent quality indie bands! "Love It When I Feel Like This" is the first album release for The Twang on 4th June of this year, following two successful singles, "Wide Awake" (March) and "Either Way" (28th May). Their most recent sigle "Either Way" reached a credible 8 in the UK charts and propelled them into nationwide recognition. The Debut: "Love It....." is the kind of album we need right now. Although the likes of The Kaiser Chiefs and similar UK bands have re-introduced indie to the mainstream charts, their releases have become much of a sameness recently with no real flair for evolution... Advantages: Prince doing what he does best

..., is it any good, well read on and make up your own mind. Opening track ‘Musicology’ is a brilliant way to open. It is a funky track, and reminds me of some of the songs from his ‘Diamonds & Pearls’ album, or James Brown at his strutting best. It is sensual and very very sexy, in fact it virtually throbs in places, which is what Prince always did best. Many critics have said that now he is in his mid 40’s, he has lost the edge in terms of sexual themes in his song, but I disagree, as I feel it is just more subtle on this album than anything else he has released. This theme is carried on with ‘Illusion, Coma, Pimp & Circumstance’. The opening bars of ‘A Million Days’ remind me of the start of ‘Little Red Corvette’, although you couldn’t get two different songs. This is my absolute favourite on the album. Advantages: Uplifting songs, tender ballads, brilliant songwriting and numerous other positives!
Disadvantages: Album released as a single track, other than that, pretty perfect!

..., with many going to superb. Alphabet St. is again funky, with more guitar in than Eye No. It also has a rap by new band member Cat. Thankfully, unlike many of Prince's later attempts at putting rap into his records, it fits the song nicely and is a nice little touch. Glam Slam follows, a song with lyrics that are very simple, but perfectly define the feelings one has towards a loved one, 'I know I hold you 2 tight, but I just can't seem 2 get close enough'. The chorus itself is very uplifting and this is my favourite song off of the album. However the song ends with a long instrumental synth 'crescendo'. Personally I like it alot, it's different and leads nicely into the next song, but when played on Radio One in the 80s, the DJ (Steve Wright I think) commented that Prince had at last gone mad, which might give you some idea of the publics...
