1. It doesn’t Matter Anymore
What an amazing song, you can here her voice overpowering the guitar in the background. It is a pleasant mixture of smooth and soft sounds that sound perfect together. The guitar is heaven; ... ...of heaven waiting for you. Towards the middle, it picks up; her voice comes through as strong, and powerful. This song is so special and would be great for a romantic dinner. It also has a beautiful harp? Playing that is really nice. This is the only instrument you can really hear is this one and it is amazing.
5/5

Hello! This is my second op on the talented Eva Cassidy. Her voice is like an angel to me, it is perfect. She can reach all the lows and highs of singing and does it well. Her voice is amazing, if you haven’t heard it, then you must, it can bring tears to your eyes, fill your heart with pure joy, or just be the CD of happy memories, whatever you choose, you will always remember her beautiful voice.

1. It doesn’t Matter Anymore
What an amazing song, you can here her voice overpowering the guitar in the background. It is a pleasant mixture of smooth and soft sounds that sound perfect together. The guitar is heaven; it reminds me of an angel sitting at the gates of heaven waiting for you. Towards the middle, it picks up; her voice comes through as strong, and powerful. This song is so special and would be great for a romantic dinner. It also has a beautiful harp? Playing that is really nice. This is the only instrument you can really hear is this one and it is amazing. 5/5
2. Fever
You will all now this song! At the start, you have a mixture of drums, and a violin. The drums and violin are an unusual mixture together, but surprisingly they do go together. It sounds quite ‘jazz’. This is song you want to crank the volume up and sing along. At 0.50 seconds there is a long note of “Fever” and it is amazing. The drums continue all the way through and the violin comes in now and again. This is song overall is super, powerful, sexy and seductive. 5/5
3. Who Knows Where Time Goes?
This is a bit of a slow song now, it is so good. The guitar (again) is progressing and turns out to play a bigger part in this song. There is also another instrument that is playing in the background, I can’t tell what it is, but it defiantly brings the song to life. The singing is great again; her voice can do the multiple levels. A great song, with a bit more of an instrumental feel to it. 4/5
4. You’ve changed
This is a very smooth, jazz song. You know those films you watch, and the man takes out his beautiful date to an amazing restaurant and there is always a man playing the piano – this is what the song sounds like. It has a great sound of the piano in the background, her voice powers over it, but sometimes they mix together. Overall, they sound great together. The instrumental piano pieces are great, strong and powerful, which reflects in her voice. 4/5
5. Imagine
As you may have guessed, this is the title of the album. A great title for the album, it lets you think about what you want the album to mean – which is reflected in this song. This was John Lennon’s song, but her remix is great. It brings a whole new life to the song it really is great. You will never beat the original, but this does come close, it has smooth, easy lyrics and the guitar/violin is beautiful with her voice. It is so much the same (bad English), but so much different, so much more EVA. 5/5
6. Still Not Ready
A weird start to this song. It has a trumpet playing, seductive and sorry start to it. It is seductive because it is that cool, crisp trumpet, but sad because the tune is sad. It then goes into the words; they seem really slow and sad. The voice is amazing, soft and smooth, amazing. It is a very sad song in all, but nice. The words have lots of meaning, they are kind of love like words, very sad love, words. It is like she has lost her love, but then found him. Overall this song can be interpreted in many ways and you really have to listen to decide. 3/5
7. Early Morning Rain
What a great start! It is so morning like. It is a very peaceful, mountain song. It sounds like it should be played while you watch a farm/mountain program. Again her voice is amazing, so powerful compared to the instruments, but then so weak. Her voice hits real peaks (no pun intended) at times, but the rest of the time it is very mellow, easy going and chilled. The words to this song are so heart warming, peaceful. It is so beautiful, so Eva. 5/5
8. Tennessee Waltz
What an amazing name, to go with an amazing song. “I was dancing with my darling to the Tennessee Waltz”. It is so beautiful. It isn’t really a dance (Waltz) song, more of a love song. It has the feeling of love written (sung) all over it. Again as always her voice shines through with GOLD starts. It gets really powerful at points, and then she drops it back to a soft voice again. At the end it is astounding, remarkable, she sings the title and it sounds super. A great love song, one to play on that lazy Sunday in bed with your love … 4/5
9. I can Only Be Me
I am not so sure on this song. Don’t you always find that with albums, you like most of the songs, but then there is one you don’t like or are not sure about? It is not a very Eva style song. It is very good, but her voice sounds strained, to others it may sound great, but it sounds stretched to me. The piano playing is great; it does deep and high notes through the song. I do start to change my mind through the song, it gets better, and she doesn’t strain her voice anymore. It sounds more like her, but there is a lingering feeling about the song in my mind. Her voice does sound brilliant, (on the non straining notes), but still?!?!? 2/5
10. Danny Boy
Oh no, the last song. That is my only complaint about Eva Cassidy’s albums: THEY ARE TO SHORT!! Why can’t she make them longer? But anyway, this song follows through with the rest; it follows the amazing voice and other great stuff I have mentioned. I think the song is a cover, not completely sure, but if it is, she has added her own brilliant spice to it. The lyrics are so nice; it is like Danny is her lover. You half expect so bloke (sorry man) to come through and start signing back, but no one does. It has a great selection of soothing instruments and her voice sooths you of to a great finish of a truly amazing album. 5/5
This album is defiantly worth getting. This album isn’t actually mine, I copied from my mum (we are both mad about Eva Cassidy) and I can’t stop playing it now. I have had it for months and I just love it. It is really worth buying. A great present, a great listen.

Advantages: Excellent relaxation album Disadvantages: Not enough tracks on the album
Another album and another number one. Eva's latest offering is very much the same as her other albums but her voice is just as strong. Although this album isn't as good as her previous Number 1, Songbird, it is still of a quality that you rarely hear.

2. Fever
3. Who Knows Where The Time Goes
4. You've Changed
5. Imagine
6. Still Not Ready

9. I Can Only Be ... ...Anymore is a great opener for this album that bubbles along nicely. Soulful and mellow, Eva's vocals takes you to another place altogether. A simple guitar melody and Eva's fantastic vocals makes this an amazing chill-out track.
2. Fever is a track we've all heard at some time, but never like this before. You almost have to listen to it twice to make sure that it is a cover version! The fantastically powerful vocals makes this completely different ...

Ciao members have rated this review on average: somewhat helpful Review of Imagine - Eva Cassidy
Personnel: Eva Cassidy (vocals, guitar); Keith Grimes (electric guitar); Bruno Nasta (violin); Kent Wood (sythesizer strings); Les Owen (saxophone); Lenny Williams (piano); Chris Izzi (keyboards); Kent Wood (organ, synthesizer); Larry Melton, Chris Biondo (bass); Adrian Green, Racie McLeod (drums). Recorded between 1987 & 1996. Includes liner notes by Bill Straw. Following Eva Cassidy's 1996 death from cancer at the age of 33, word-of-mouth popularity in America by way of England led to a number of stellar posthumous releases mixing live and studio recordings. 2002's IMAGINE follows the same path and is no less impressive. Front and center is the late D.C. native's stellar vocal timbre that allowed her to interpret a wide range of songwriters. In the studio, she easily moved from a slinky version of Little Willie John's "Fever" (featuring interesting support on fiddle by brother Dan) to a soaring interpretation of "I Can Only Be Me," a Stevie Wonder composition originally recorded by Keith John for the SCHOOL DAZE soundtrack. The most notable in-concert performances featured here come from intimate Annapolis venues like the King of France Tavern and defunct Pearl's. These gorgeous solo acoustic readings include the standard "Danny Boy" and Gordon Lightfoot's "Early Morning Rain." Most fitting is Cassidy's take on "Who Knows Where The Time Goes" by Sandy Denny, a singer she's most often compared to. In light of the acclaimed success of the stylistically similar Norah Jones, the mind boggles at the heights Eva Cassidy might have reached had she not died at such a young age.
Album Reviews
Rolling Stone (9/19/02, p.110) - 4 stars out of 5 - "...An odds-and-ends collection culled from diverse sources that holds together, thanks to Cassidy's torchy interpretive genius." Q (9/02, p.124) - 3 stars out of 5 - "...These 10 tracks are as emotionally moving as ever and will please those hungry for more of her work." Mojo (9/02, p.115) - "...a warts and all collection of classic songs sung by a superb interpreter...the kind of performances that make audiences feel guilty about breaking the fragile time-stopping magic by breathing too loud."
