Advantages:
Universal appeal, infectious, sociable, nostalgic . Perfect music for being drunk with friends to . Also perfect for dancing stupidly on your own . Basically, the perfect album to be happy to .
Disadvantages:
Justify My Love, and maybe Rescue Me . At least it was too early for Hanky Panky

Frankly, I'd be pretty shocked to discover that anyone out there - any woman, at least - needs to go in search of an opinion on this album. Although the odd favourite is, unforgivably, missed (True Blue??), and some of her darker hours are ill-advisedly retained (Justify My Love), there is really no excuse for not owning this album. Not so long ago I threw a party, and we ended up playing this CD on loop, and everyone dancing like maniacs around the house. This is pure fun. The most hardened of music snobs has Vogued along with the best of them. Quite simply, this is a magical album; let's face it, while Madonna's voice is distinctive, it's not actually fabulous, her lyrics are frequently awful, and there is no formula to the music. So why does *everyone* love it?
