I have been a fan of Madonna’s since I was 9 yrs old and I’m still a big fan of hers now. I think she’s amazing and the best female artist around.
I do like some of her songs off her ‘Music’ album but I still prefer all her early career stuff she has done.
I have never seen her live, but would like to one day.
The Immaculate Collection is Madonna’s first, greatest hits collection. It was released in 1990. It contains 15 of her greatest hits since her career began in 1983 and has 5 UK number ones on it. The album itself takes you though a journey of Madonna’s early career from 1984-1991. It is arranged in chronological order. It has all the well known tracks that you would expect to find. So for all that it’s well worth £12.99.
This by far is my favourite album she’s ever done. So now I’m going to tell you a little about each track and about what I think of each track, hope you enjoy reading.
Track1. Holiday
Holiday is about getting away from everyday life and enjoying life. It’s a really good party song and will guarantee people to get up and dance.
Holiday was Madonna’s first top 40 hit, it was released in 1983 summer time. Madonna’s voice sounds very childish/girlie in this song.
Track2. Lucky Star
The songs about a man who she thinks will make everything all right. This song is a dancey little tune. It’s typical early Madonna music. Here again Madonna’s voice sound’s childish/girlie.
Track3. Borderline
This song is about someone wanting someone and that someone letting you down and not giving you commitment and she’s not going to take it anymore.
Track4. Like A Virgin
Like A Virgin is about feeling when a relationship is pure and special. It’s a song for the karaoke lovers among you. This was Madonna’s first number one.
Track5. Material Girl
This song is about not wanting love but wanting someone with money and who can give her clothes and what she wants. It’s a catchy little tune and an all time classic. Material Girl made it to number two.
Track6. Crazy For You
Crazy For You is about someone who wants to tell someone there crazy for you but can’t. It’s a couple’s song good for smooching to. Crazy For You was her 2nd number one. This is Madonna’s first real ballad.
Track7. Into The Groove
The song is from the film desperately seeking Susan. It’s about a guy she likes who she wants to just relax and enjoy himself. Wherever you are you want to dance to this song.
Track8. Live To Tell
Live To Tell is about knowing men can break your heart and let you down and lie to you. This is one of my favourite songs on this album as it is very touching and is a meaningful song. It’s a great I’ve just been dump song and we all hate men. It has good lyrics and is a very powerful ballad.
Track9. Papa Don’t Preach
This song is about fathers finding it hard to let their daughter grow up and make there own mistakes. It’s about teenage pregnancy and a daughter wanting to go to her father for help. It’s a song you could listen to anytime of day.
Track10. Open Your Heart
The songs about a girl liking someone and always trying to make herself notice but it doesn’t seem to work. It’s a nice pop song. This made number one for Madonna.
Track11. La Isla Bonita
La Isla Bonita is about a holiday romance, about wanting to be with a man, who she met there. This song reminds me of when I went on holiday to Gran Canaria as it has a Spanish feel.
Track12. Like A Prayer
This song is about spiritual Love. This song reminds me of when I was young and I use to do the dance routine to it with my two mates.
Track13. Express Yourself
The song is empowering and inspiring. It’s about putting your self first and not excepting men treating you bad. I think this makes a great song to put on while getting ready to go out on a girl’s night out.
Track14. Cherish
Cherish is about being grateful for the person you love and for them being there and would perish the thought of ever losing them. This would be my second favourite song off this album. I think it has the best lyrics and is also a simple pop song.
Track15. Vogue
This song is a get up and dance tune and about getting away from everyday life and enjoying your self on the dance floor. A song where you can put on your pointy bras. This song actually has no meaning.
Track16. Justify My Love
Justify My Love is a steamy sexy song wanting their partner to prove their love to them. This is quite a slow song. This was the start of Madonna’s raunchy sexy style and outfits.
Track17. Rescue Me
The song is about someone excepting you for who you are and all your ways. This is my least favourite off this album. It consecrates on vocals than the music.
I was a bit disappointed with the last two songs as I thought Dear Jessie and True Blue should have been added to this album instead of Justify My Love and Rescue Me.
I definitely recommend this album to any true fan of Madonna.
This was my first time reviewing a CD album track by track so I hope you enjoyed reading it.
