...Amelie was a great success worldwide and listening to the soundtrack makes you relive the best scenes of the film. Yann Tiersen is truly a great composer and this soundtrack is so full of positive feelings that can make you feel happier just by listening to it!
The sound of the classical instruments used is very clear, he also used some light effects on a few tracks, like old vinyl record crackles. The melodies are simple and so beautiful, that is what makes it so easy to listen. The presence of the accordion really reminds of old French songs, a bit in the spirit of EdithPiaf's. All the ingredients are there to make it music you can listen to at any time. I listened to this CD over and over again, while traveling, studying, cooking, and it cheers me up and makes me dream.

...version of the Doors, Like Jim Morrisson, Buckley effortlessly switches direction within a song moving from simple folk music through to sweeping rock in this paean to lost love.
Grace: This sounds like Stephen Duffy’s Lilac Time with a cross between folk rock and Greek Bouziki music, but as soon as that voice starts musically the song comes adrift as the band try to keep up with the vocals and just starts to match the lyrics.
Last Goodbye: A Led Zep riff underpins the song and threatens to rock off with it, but the delicate swooping voice soothes the beast and requires the addition of strings.
Lilac Wine: cover of an Elkie Brooks song, performed in a torch singer style a la EdithPiaf. This actually works, with the song and accompaniment being ever so delicate and the voice actually having room to move to finally express itself.
